Just to add to the posts on homosexuality, it might be worth pointing out that "naff" is an old Polari (gay slang) term meaning, originally, 'straight' (it's an acronym for Not Avaliable For f***ing) and then applied to drab and boring things - cuz that's what straight taste was seen as.

So mascots are straight - what's wrong with that?
