I used the word Flummoxed during a work conversation yesterday and received blank looks from several who had never heard it before.

'Flibbertigibbet' - I think I've been using this old expression wrongly. Supposedly it's someone prone to gossipy chatter or talkative person. I've always used in relation to a lady of questionable morals . My modern fave now being " dirty little sausage wallet "!

Turns out, I still occasionally refer to ITV as Channel 3, on the basis that it was the third of the four channels.
