Princes News Theatre.... when I was a small kid , 1950s , my dad would take me to see a programme of cartoons and ten every hour or so it was 10 or 15 minutes of Pathe News. Since we did not have a tv back then ,to actually see the news was something..

The quaintly named Obed Arms on Albion Hill. Seems to be a pub outing . I love the mix of people and clothing , and the old girl at the top window . I bet they had a good time…

Hard to pinpoint today because the buildings are long gone . To the best I can judg it was here at what is now the corner of John Street.

Illustrating the evil Patriarchy. Blokes having a good time drinking yards of Tamplins and puffing away at Capstans. Whilst their other halves in nearby 2 Up/2 Downs toiled with mangles, the scouring brush and coal scuttles .

Interesting to see Dockerills there, only a hundred yards or so from their current home.

Yay…. Dockerills , an absolute go - to place for almost anything when I lived in North Laine. They don’t make shops like that anymore.

That would have been after it moved farther east along Western Rd.

I can’t help but think of Savile esque characters going for Santa jobs back in the day.

I thought that too about location, then the new one was destroyed by a fire.
