You obviously haven't seen us play much in the past two years. We have to keep to our beliefs and retain our ethos of passing the ball. We will turn it round.

Thought we were quite good tonight especially defensively despite Bridcutt's mistake and Harper's jelly wrists. BBC stats reflect this. OK the big f-off stat shows we lost!!

Carew didn't get a look in unlike the last time he played against us with Stoke and Villa.

Just didn't fall for us. Noone class, Buckley looked good when on. The new Chilean Jaja Binks lookes tasty.

Glass is half full tonight.

Pork pie land.
How did we do in the first few games? How did we do against liverpool? Bad form, not bad tactics

Sorry, bad tactics with the poor quality players we have, and we have been found out. We either need to spend big on quality, or get back to English style football our players understand. And a few of them been to grow a pair!

Agreed about a few needing to man up a bit, but I think with a manager like gus we need to play his style of football. It worked for us earlier so why not now?

we must trust in the way we play, it is the right way to play and we are not at risk in this league because of it. Once we get it right we will be a force in this league.

Reflecting on the game
I thought Noone was at times poor. He is our creative outlet and therefore needs to make better decisions as to when to cross, pass or run. I'm confident he'll improve. I felt we lacked width throughout the game which meant CMS pulled wide often when he should have stayed more central and trusted others to get the ball to him.
West Ham defended deep and by doing so we couldnt exploit gaps and struggled. When we had chances to break quickly and get in behind them we made bad choices in terms of passes...they often ended up behind players or we checked back and slowed play which cost us.

All in all...WHU are probably the most organised team in the league. They came here to "smash and grab" a result and did. Fair play to them, we wont play against teams like that every week. I think on tonights performance, other teams would have lost composure and discipline and we'd have got 3 points.

In fairness to West Ham they played the way they did because they've got a lot of injuries but their tactics were spot on and they were stronger than us all over the pitch. We need some physical presence in the last third of the pitch and we've got to stop fannying around at the back - this has been sussed as a weakness and teams just press us high up the pitch and force errors, just like tonight. Get these things sorted and we'll be a force in this division! And Gus will.

I don't think we will beat many of the top half teams in this division playing the system we do with the players we have.

We play the ball about in our final third with little or know advancement down the pitch, the opposition at this level just hold their position and wait for us to make a mistake and pick us off.

We need to mix it up a bit more against the better teams and try and turn them round at the back more, nothing wrong with the odd ball down the channel.

I know what you mean. The number of people who think we should lump it long is frightening considering that we don't have the players to make that work. Do they really want us to regress to the same old shit we watched for 25 years?

I don't want us to just lump it up but we do need to play further up the pitch (10-15 yards) and at times look to play balls behind the opposition back four for our players with pace to try and commit the opposition defenders and get in behind them.

At the moment the better sides will just let us pas it around in our final third and wait for us to pay a loose or hospital ball and pick up the peices and put us to the sword.

Get a grip.

We played ok and lost to a soft goal. We lack a cutting edge going forward and don't move the ball quick enough, but Rome wasn't built in a day and Gus will continue to add better quality players.

It might take a couple of years but Gus will get there eventually. Be patient.
