I think, rather than a song (though we do need something new), we need some kind of Galatasary-esque chant that can just go on and on. Songs just seem to get through a single chorus after and are finished after about 20 seconds... we need something to lift the roof off the Amex and really create some atmosphere.

Now I don't know the history of this one, or who sung it first, but its another one from my time in Sydney:

"Sydney, oh Sydney, oh Sydney, said I
I will stand at Moore Park, till the day I die
Take me to the harbour, way down by the sea
And I will follow Sydney, Sydney FC"

Could easily be changed to

Brighton, oh Brighton, oh Brighton said I
I will stand at Falmer, till the day I die
take me down the south coast, way down by the sea
and I will follow Brighton & Hove Albion FC...

What tune?

Ruby by Kaiser Cheifs could easily be made into a cracking tune?

To the tune of Ruby (Kaiser Chiefs)

Nooney Nooney Nooney Nooney
Lalalalalala
Is even better than Wayne Rooney
Lalalalalala
Nooney Nooney Nooney Nooney
Lalalalalala
Is even better than Wayne Rooney

after the marching band played it on Saturday, I reckon the woooooaaahhh wooooahhh bit of Lady Gaga - Bad Romance would sound amazing if everyone sung it.

Dont know what I'd change the words "caught in a bad romance" to, but its the sort of tune that is catchy and easy to sing too

Also the band did The Grandstand theme tune, that could sound quite good too if it wasnt sung at a million miles an hour

Yep, I am just biting these from Sydney, but they worked while I was there, and I don't know them to be sung often over here...

Oh the rhythm of my heart is beating like a drum
the words 'I love you' rolling off my tongue
oh forever I will roam, but I know that I am home
when the ocean meets the sky, I'm in Brighton...

Really like that. As somerset said, it'll work a treat if we sing it at the correct speed. Sounds 'tastic though.

Anyone know this one? Obviously the words would need changing, but it is simple, short, easy to learn and would sound brilliant sung by thousands of people:

Just the chorus as there's no point in expecting anyone to learn anything else

Her eyes they shone like diamonds,
I thought her the queen of the land,
And her hair it hung over her shoulder,
Tied up with a black velvet band

The other one I've always thought would make a superb football song is that one from Les Mis-

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes

Would be so easily adapted to make a football song. So easily. Original as well.

Of course, it could just as simple as...

Learning the words to Sussex By The Sea, and singing them at the RIGHT SPEED

I mean - seriously, how hard can that be?
Yes. On a related point I was REALLY pleased that the opera singer on Saturday sang "Going up and we'll win the cup". My campaign is gaining momentum.

To the tune of Hit the Road Jack:

Craig Makail Smith
He's gonna hunt you down and score and score
Craig Makail Smith
He’s gonna hunt you down and score

Ironically a bit bourgeois... but could be good...
