As I mentioned on another thread, I do believe he had a tracheotomy on Friday morning..!.. He is expected to make a full recovery, but his recovery would be speeded up considerably if he took his anti-biotics ( humble pie 3 times a day with water). As I understand it, he is steadfastly refusing his medicine, despite the fact that the nurses are queuing up with his medicine (humble pie) in one hand....and an olive branch in the other as reward. We will await further developments. !!

:D Only 5 pages, I'm most disappointed.

Not been on here for one simple reason, out supporting my teams! London Irish at Wycombe yesterday and seeing our great victory today :)

London Irish will probably be on tomorrow if we lose to Millwall, saying.."see...I told you all..!" And then proceed to inform us all what a pathetic bunch we are, etc, etc, etc, etc,....liberally sprinkled with the word "fella"...and his usual patronising and self arrogance. Personally, i don,t want anyone to stop supporting the Albion over differences of opinion....it,s what football is about........BUT...the way London Irish chooses to belittle so many posters on here who differ to his opinion is the main reason why so many people are registered, but don,t post..! Without doubt, I find him the most destructive force on this board and I hope he NEVER returns....! Without him, we might find that many more posters would like to express their opinions, without having to put up with the CONTINUAL arguing, goading and patronising replies of London Irish.
Just as an opinion ...of course...I feel a little sorry for Mcghee....he had to go....but All the fault doesn,t lie at his door.

This is the best one -"the most destructive force on this board"! Wow. Cheers fella :D

And of course I will honour my bets - my record in the end was played 4, won 2, lost 2 on those - decent midtable form :drink:

Come on then Steve - please give us your thoughts on the goings-on of the last few days.

I do not ask in an antagnostic manner but out of genuine interest since, personally, it doesn't sit easy with me.

I would be genuinely interested in your views on what is going on in the Albion boardroom that has led us to our current position.

I wouldn't have thought my views would be that difficult to guess! :lolol:

It's difficult because I am by nature someone who both agrees and feels very strongly about the principle of loyalty and I still feel that loyalty to Dick Knight. So I'm not going to be pointlessly oppositional for the sake of it towards him. If what is going on with McGhee's dismissal currently is some small symptom of a wider battle for the future of the club as some on here have implied, then I remain firmly a supporter of Dick Knight and hope he carries on what is an appallingly difficult job for many years to come, or for as long as he feels he can. The suggested alternatives to his leadership of the club (Chapman, the Blooms) I find distinctly underwhelming.

That said, I don't accept either of the two main reasons that Dick has publically given for his sacking of McGhee, firstly, "the community of fans made me", or secondly, "the broken man" theory.

I think the real reason for the parting of the ways is that they were no longer singing from the same hymn sheet publically and that was probably having a greater toll on their working relationship than many of us, certainly me, thought. It's obvious that they were starting to say different things about what our expectations for the season should be and why we weren't getting enough of the right results on the pitch.

I had hoped that this debate between them could be a healthy thing. I started that thread on Mike Newell this evening to give an example of a manager who sees his role as not necessarily always speaking the boardroom line, but someone who sees himself as almost semi-independent role from the owners, agitating for greater resources for the playing side in public. This was the role I think McGhee would have played increasingly for us.

As I said, I think it would have been a tough debate but a healthy one. Perhaps Dick Knight felt it would demoralise the current squad to have it, as it does imply the current players are not quite good enough. Perhaps he felt that "the community of fans" would unreasonably start to direct more of their harsh, scapegoating rhetoric at the board.

So Steve, what do you think of the caretaker appointment of Wilkins? (I feel this is turning into a Q&A session)
