[Football] ‘Offshore Jim’ at Man United

Questions has always been how much of their OWN money have the Glazers invested in Man United and rumours are less than £100m. Then how much have they benefited out of owning Man United and it is in in the £100's of millions in dividends plus selling the stake to offshore Jim went into their pockets and that was several billion pounds. They see United as a cash cow and as long as United to continue to service their debts that the Glazers leveraged on United to buy their controlling stake then they will continue to be like mosquitos and suck a little bit more blood out of United when they need a top up to their US portfolio. Just also adding. Even selling their stake to Offshore Jim they got United to pay their financial advisors to facilitate the sale of their shares. You reap what you sow
Being in charge of the "football" side of things was always going to be a bit of a poisoned chalice for Ratcliffe the way things were going. I think the Glazers have pulled off a masterstroke. They've made him something of a lightning rod, while they get a relatively easy ride.

I live in Cheshire, so I know a load of Man Utd fans. I'd say there's an even split between those who see this decline as an inevitable consequence of poor management from the top down and sound management by their competitors, and then the others who genuinely think they're temporarily embarrassed title challengers.

Before the Europa League final, I asked two of them where they'd finish up next season, all things being equal?

Would take sixth? If things don't change dramatically, they'll be lucky to finish 16th.
In fairness, it's probably done on the assumption that this year was written off long ago and there will be a summer of ins and outs with the manager having a full pre-season.

Also important to remember that United are 26 points behind and stopped playing quite a while back. They are better than their current position, much better.

Next season is as interesting one. As much as there is 26 points between 17th and 6th, I don't actually think there is a lot of difference, just external stuff. It's a bit like the season Albion reached the play offs in 90/91. We played Leicester City, who were almost relegated, and I didn't think there was much between the teams. The following season they finished 4th and Albion went down.

I can't see United staying a basket case for much longer. But, then perhaps they will.

The level of arrogance of Man United fans is quite unbelievable.
Prior to the final virtually all the United fans around me had no thought about losing.
They are now thinking of the numerous signings they’ll make based on selling Rashford, Sancho and Anthony.
I doubt they’ll sell one of them due to their wages.
I think they’ll improve but mid table is the best they’ll achieve IMHO.

Yeah, I don’t buy the “next season is different” hype for Manchester United.

They’ve got too many players who are not going to be incentivised to move on unless someone pays wages far in excess of what they’re worth. They may get one or two off their books, but they won’t get shot of all of them, and those that go will go for less than they arrived for.

For the first time in a long time, they have to make the sums add up. Can Ruben Amorim (who I have some respect for as a manager) win anything with kids? Probably not.
