Waine 27, 31
Tammy Waine’s brace was enough to give Albion all three points against bottom club Chesham.
Waine’s 12th and 13th strikes of the season ensured that the Seagulls completed back-to-back league victories following last week’s win over West Ham.
Both sides started the game rather slowly, with Waine’s cross-shot hitting the post being the only noteworthy chance in the first 20 minutes.
The Generals had a good chance to break the deadlock when Natalie Adams’s cross drifted through the Albion box before Amy Fisher fired her shot over the bar.John Donoghue’s side improved as half wore on, as Lucy Somes superbly worked herself into space only to shoot just wide of Katie McGloin’s goal.
Paige Adams then saw her effort hit the woodwork before Yasmin Poole’s follow-up was blocked by Monica Sharma.
The breakthrough eventually came in the 27th minute, when Waine’s close-range effort slipped through McGloin’s hands.
A second goal came just four minutes later, as Waine’s superb overhead kick from a corner doubled Albion’s advantage.
Two almost became three when McGloin inadvertently hit her clearance straight at Adams, but the young forward hit the rebound over the bar.
Waine then nearly completed her hat-trick right on half-time after being played through by Somes, but shot straight at McGloin.
The Albion skipper continued to be a threat in the second-half, after her ball across the box was cleared behind by Jade Dempster before forcing McGloin to punch away her dangerous corner.
But the home side brought themselves back into the game when Gemma Fraser caught Toni-Anne Wayne out of position and the former Albion forward rifled home into an empty net.
The Seagulls then pressed forward in search of a decisive third goal, as Waine’s lob forced a fine save by McGloin before Lily Honor flicked her close-range strike over the bar.
Cally Beaumont also had a chance with an effort at the far post, but the two goals were enough to secure a narrow victory.
ALBION: Wayne (GK); Honor, Beaumont, West, Carter [Capon 73]; Poole, Young, Barton; Somes [Baker-Carroll 85], Waine, Adams [Boswell 67].
