Brighton & Hove Albion women’s defender-turned-striker Amy Taylor is looking forward to a Sussex derby against Lewes at the Dripping Pan tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.*
Albion sit top of the Premier League Southern Division table, some13 points and nine places ahead of tonight’s opponents, but Taylor says the squad will not underestimate the threat from Lewes.

She told seagulls.co.uk, “It will be another tough game and they will know how we play after our match a couple of weeks ago.

“It would be good if we continue playing the way we have been and carry on our unbeaten run.

“I don’t treat any game any differently and we go into every game starting from scratch.

“One of our biggest challenges is going to be the pitch because it’s so bobbly. We have to get used to the surface to begin with before we start playing.

“The pitch at the Plymouth game was very similar, but it was fine as soon as we got into our stride.

“The tackles tend to be stronger in a local derby, but we showed against Basildon that we can stand strong in a physical test and we want to continue that tonight.”

“We've started really well; we’ve gelled a lot better this season right from the beginning and to start like we have done has shown how much of a team we are now.

The forward scored her second goal in that win over Basildon and she feels that persistence is key in order to extend her goalscoring form.

“It showed on Sunday that I have to keep going to finally get the rewards, but the way that the goals have been shared around the team shows that you don’t only need one goalscorer in the squad.

“If you play as a team, you win as a team and it doesn’t matter who scores.”
