David Stockdale enjoyed his Brighton & Hove Albion debut against Southampton on Thursday night, despite the result.Albion were beaten 3-1 by Premier League Southampton in the 28-year-old’s Amex debut and the goalkeeper admitted to being in awe of the stadium.
He told seagulls.co.uk, “They are beautiful surroundings to play in. It was a difficult game and I had to adjust to playing in a new team.
“Thankfully it wasn’t too bad; Southampton were a very good side and there were positives to take from the game.

“It was my first match in two-and-a-half months so I felt a bit rusty, but the lads looked fit and it was a good test.“There’s a lot to take into next week and it is going to be an important time for us, both training wise and tactically.”
Albion’s new shot-stopper also revealed how easy it was to step into the squad and that has been warmly welcomed by all the players.
“They’re a great group of lads and they’ve welcomed me in with open arms; I’m happy to be here and so looking forward to the start of the season.
“I now need a few more minutes under my belt and then hopefully I’ll be flying.”
