Albion's manager and Hull boss Steve Bruce reflect on last night's match.
That’s what he [Stockdale] has done ever so well and his concentration levels have been very good for us. "
Chris Hughton
CHRIS HUGHTON hailed a wonderful late save from David Stockdale which ensured Brighton & Hove Albion claimed a point at Hull City.
*
The Seagulls keeper produced a stunning stop to keep out a late effort from Sam Clucas, as Albion drew 0-0 with the league leaders.
*
He said, “That’s what he [Stockdale] has done ever so well and his concentration levels have been very good for us.
*
“In this type of game, you want to make it tight and the chances are going to be minimal.
*
“The difference between the two teams can be a good save from the goalkeeper or a real bit of quality from somebody. Thankfully for us it was a good save.”
*
Hughton changed his formation to 4-5-1 on the night and gave starts to both Inigo Calderon and Steve Sidwell.
*
“We played a different system. In two players, in Calderon and Sidwell, neither of them have played too much.
*
“Calderon’s last 90 minutes would’ve been the last time he came in at left-back for us and Sidwell, although he keeps very fit, certainly wouldn’t have played a full 90 minutes for a good while. We’re really pleased with both of their contributions.
*
“I thought both of the centre-halves were very good too and had to be. It was a good all-round team performance.”

*
The Tigers boss admits he was caught by surprise at Albion’s altered formation and praised David Stockdale for his outstanding save in the dying moments of the match to deny Sam Clucas.
*
He told hullcitytigers.com, “Frustrating, disappointing, edgy – it was a difficult night.
*
“I was expecting Brighton to stay with two up front, but they didn’t and they went with a lone striker and packed the midfield.
*
“They put ten men behind the ball and the longer it went on, the more frustrated we became. They had a game plan and they nailed it.
*
“I have to say that David Stockdale produced a fantastic save from Sam Clucas, somehow getting the ball onto the bar.
*
“If either team was going to win it, it was going to be us but if we’re being honest, we didn’t really play well enough.
*
“We needed a little bit of wit and wisdom, a little bit of creativity, and we needed our big players to take care of the ball better. Unfortunately that didn’t happen, but you’re going to get frustrating nights and edgy days over the next few weeks.
*
“We take a point and move on. Let’s not forget, Brighton are only two places behind us in the table.
*
“It was always going to be a difficult game as they have been on a great run. There’s still a little gap between us and them, but as always, it’s all to play for.”[h=3]ALBION V LEEDS UNITED
