Ulloa scored for the second consecutive game

INTERESTING TO HEAR Paul Dickov's post-match assessment of the game on Saturday. The former Albion striker called his players' performance "outstanding" and claimed his team had the better chances. Albion were dominant and thoroughly deserved to win, and his comments upset a few Albion fans, but as manager of Doncaster Rovers it is his job to focus on his club and manager's will always talk-up their team; in fairness Rovers' rear-guard display was excellent, as they aimed to frustrate Albion for 90 minutes - but for Leo Ulloa's 75th-minute goal they would have. Meanwhile Billy Sharp's free header in the second was certainly one of the better opportunities in the game.

Dickov was pleased with his side's display at the Amex
DICKOV'S ASSISTANT AT Rovers is former Albion captain and manager Brian Horton. The combative midfielder lead Albion to two promotions and into the top flight in the late 1970s. He returned as manager during Albion's Gillingham exile, before a switch to Port Vale. He was present at the groundbreaking ceremony in 2008, and he has since been to the Amex to watch fixtures, but Saturday was his first visit as an opponent.*
THE MEDIA SPOTLIGHT that has been on Leeds United since Brian McDermott's recent 24-hour sacking shone on the Amex on Tuesday night. Speaking to Leeds fans on the night, if they had their way the former Reading boss would be given a new contract. The very popular McDermott, speaking after the game, said he just wants an end to the uncertainty and for the club's future to be finalised. He is right, and Leeds fans will be pleased to see stability at Elland Road, so they can get back to concentrating on the football.

Orlandi and Forster-Caskey joined Perry at the training ground this week
ALBION'S FA CUP*tie with*Hull City*has led to an extra media interest ahead of the fifth-round tie on Monday.*BT Sport*joined Martin Perry, Jake Forster-Caskey and Andrea Orlandi for a tour of the new training ground on Wednesday - with the piece due to air in the build-up coverage on the night. Football Focus are due at the Amex tomorrow to interview former England defender Matt Upson for Saturday lunchtime's show; while Andrea Orlandi is due on TalkSPORT's breakfast show tomorrow morning. As well as live TV, the game is also being covered live by the London-based sports radio station.
AS FAN PODCASTS go there are few better than the Albion Roar. The hour-long weekly show is presented by long-standing Albion fans Alan Wares and Adrian Packham. Last week they invited on North Stand Chat moderator and lecturer on accounting Kieran Maguire to digest and explain the club's recent announcement for fans. Maguire certainly has his finger on the pulse, and even took time to chat to Albion's finance director David Jones last Friday before giving an erudite interview, with plenty of insight. It is no surprise to learn he is regularly used as an expert accounting analyst by the likes of the BBC, Financial Times, The Sunday Times, Guardian and Independent. *It's available as a download and worth a listen.
WE HAVE ALWAYS been keen to promote support of grassroots clubs and this Saturday, Sussex-based Albion fans might fancy taking in one of the many non-league games across the county. There are two games which catch the eye, as both East Preston and Eastbourne United have FA Vase fifth-round ties. East Preston face Leicester-based St Andrews at Lashmar, while Morpeth make the long trip from Northumberland to the Oval. A full list of games can be found here.*
