Whether it be [Ben] Marshall or [Craig] Conway they have got good, strong players in wide areas. "

At his pre-match press conference, Chris Hughton spoke about the signing of Connor Goldson, the threat which Blackburn will pose and the expectation to secure all three points at the Amex.

The arrival of Connor Goldson:*
"For a young player in that position he's played a lot of games and certainly has a good background. It's quite a nice feeling when you are able to see a young player like that who has played as many games as he has and to give him an opportunity here. It's a position that we needed to cover, because of what we lost at the end of last season with Greg Halford and Aaron Hughes going. How quickly he develops will be up to the individual and the work we do with him, but he has excelled at that level [Leagues One and Two] and we're delighted to have brought him in. There were other clubs looking at him and he's a mature one, particularly playing in that position, which needs organisation and maturity. That is why so many centre-backs have their best periods in the latter part of their careers or in their late twenties, so we've seen some really good signs in him.”

The threat from Blackburn: "They have showed a really good work ethic. Whether it be [Ben] Marshall or [Craig] Conway they have got good, strong players in wide areas. I'm not sure which way they will go up front, whether [Jordan] Rhodes will be fit. Certainly if he is, then he is always a threat but they base their game on a really good team ethic. [Danny] Guthrie in midfield is a creative player, if not [Jason] Lowe or [Hope] Akpan, who are really solid players in there. It will be a difficult game, but at this moment there aren't any comfortable ones."
Expectation to win games at home:* "There's always more responsibility and onus on the home team to get a result. For me it doesn't really matter how you get a result, but our form has been quite good. Probably out of the three league games, the Forest game is the one we deserved to win. Our two games on the road could have gone either way. We had really good periods in both games and had to defend well. Our last game at home was a good performance and we'll have to be somewhere near that to get a result. Any new player looks for the opportunity to play at home in front of their own crowd but also any new player wants to be involved in something that's going well and we've had a good start. The new signings have given us some really good competition in the team.”
