Stephen Dobbie has left Albion for Crystal Palace – initially signing on loan – and is expected to complete a permanent move to Selhurst Park on July 1st.
Dobbie links up with his former boss Ian Holloway; for whom he played for during two loan spells at Blackpool.
Poyet told seagulls.co.uk, “It’s about playing football for him. I would say it’s a situation like Steven Pienaar; he’s a terrific *player and did very well at Everton but when he moved to Tottenham it just didn’t work, for whatever reason. He returned to Everton and he’s a fantastic player again.
“Sometimes it’s not about the player, the manager or the way the team plays, there is just something that didn’t click and didn’t work. We wish him well during the time that he is at Crystal Palace.”
Dobbie arrived at the Amex from Swansea City on the August transfer deadline day but has struggled to make an impact in Poyet’s first team, so has travelled to south-east London in search of regular football.
He made 15 appearances in an Albion shirt and scored two goals for the club, against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town.
