Albion's striker has been delighted with his progress this season.
Brighton & Hove Albion forward Sam Baldock has adapted well to playing in different roles this season after a tough first campaign at the club. The 26 year-old struggled to find his goalscoring touch last term, but believes he has found form in other aspects of the game during this season.
He said, “I wrote last year’s season off to be honest. I wouldn’t say it was an adjustment year, but I was definitely not playing at my best.
“This year has been a lot better in terms of how I have wanted to play. I think I have played some of the best football in my career so far this season, even though I have been used in different positions on the pitch.
“I have changed as a player at Brighton. I have had to adjust my game when put in different positions. I used to play as a lone striker or with a partner, but here I have been used in the wide areas as well.
“I have had to become more creative and look for runs from my team-mates. Playing in new positions makes you appreciate everyone’s role in the team.”

Baldock has played with many strikers throughout his career and stressed the importance of a good forward partnership for promotion-chasing teams.“When you know what your partner is going to do, it gives you space to run into, enabling you to be one step ahead of the defender and a great advantage to get goals.
“Strikers work better in partnerships and as a footballer, you know when a partnership will kindle with a player.
“My partnership with Tomer [Hemed] feels very natural, we bounce off each other and I know where he is going to be and vice-versa.I have also enjoyed playing with Bobby (Zamora), he is a very experienced and quality player.”
The former Bristol City frontman has achieved promotion to the Premier League with West Ham and emphasised that the key to success is belief and having faith in your team-mates at all times.
“We just need to keep believing as we get closer to the end. We have had a bad spell, but as a team we have come away from that and have gone on to do great things. We just need to remain consistent in every aspect of our game.
“A lot of the boys will be just as proud of the clean sheets as well as the goals we’ve been scoring. Having a solid defence and goalscorers is great for any team and a good platform to win matches.
“We are strongly focused on the Preston match and that goes for everyone at this club. We have great team spirit, which helps us believe that we can win every game.”
