wow, two centurians, and not Tresco or KP, marvellous scenes, albeit with several large slices of luck!

Excellent day. Puts Pakistan on the back foot for the start of the series. Need to win this series to go back above them in the rankings.

OK, it's early days, but this dropping catches thing can play on the players minds. Need to really run it it tomorrow.

Geriant Jones, you owe us a big score. If not, get injured and let Reid back in.

Day Two looks like being a beautiful sunny, if slightly breezy, day at Lords.

England, starting with 309-3 really need to pile the pressure on Pakistan...

A total of 500+ must be on the target.

From cricinfo.

And the ball, after going over the boundary "rope" has now got lost in what can only be described as a piece of trunking. Part of Lord's plumbing, I suppose. And they're now wiggling the tube, desperately trying to find a red cricket ball. Surely it can't be that hard, it must be in there somewhere.

Could only happen in England eh :lolol:

I think playing a bit down the order will suit him better, less pressure so he can play his natural game. Him and Collingwood should work very wll together in terms of rotating the strike.

As his natural game seems to consist mainly of wafting his bat aimlessly outside the off stump, surely it's the last thing England want him to be playing?

I see from Cricinfo that the Cook / Collingwood partnership was the all-time record 4th wicket stand vs Pakistan. Well played!

Slightly harsh. He had a reasonable tour of the sub continent and it is only the emergence of Cook that has pushed him out of the side.

He had a good tour of Pakistan (and seems to be enjoying their bowling again in this test), but struggled against India averaging a shade under 22 from his 6 innings. He's only in the side because the other contenders for his place aren't very good either. Much as I dislike Bell, the thought of Robert Key turning out for England again fills me with utter dread.
