My son used to work in a cinema the amount of money they make is unbelievable when a blockbuster is viewing regularly had £2m in the safe.

Just goes to show that the big cinemas rip you off. If independents can still make a profit on £2.50 tickets, so could Odeon/Vue/etc

the distributors dont charge the independents the same as the large chains. its an odd industry where the distributors chose the pricing for different outlets, based on their size and location.

It has to be said that you can't beat watching a blockbuster on the big screen with great sound. Our cinema of choice is Cineworld at Crawley. Don't always like the prices but compared to cinemas of old, the seats are comfortable, roomy and the seating level is such you'd have to have a giant in front of you to obscure your view. Packet of winegums normally suffices so don't spend a fortune on the concessions. At the end of the day you can have a night out for the family that is cheaper than one seat at the Amex!!!! (although the later is always the preference).

Agreed. Easy parking, comfy seats with a good view, good sound system and decent places for a family meal nearby. Also easy to get back on the M23 to escape Crawley afterwards [emoji23][emoji106]

Having got used to the no off peak pricing during school holidays, they have now come up with a new wheeze.

Blockbuster pricing, where they add £2 to the cost of a ticket (£4 to a family ticket) to any film they determine is a blockbuster. This means currently this charge is added to all screenings of Rogue One.

Which means that an off peak adult ticket rather than £8 which would be £9.75 during school holidays is now £11.75.

At least there are no booking fees, but this just seems to be the same thing albeit in a different name.

Go to Dukes at Komedia or the Duke of Yorks. Cheaper, comfier and they sell beer which you're allowed to take into the screening.
