My belief is that if you are done for sexual abuse of a minor and you are found guilty, straight away, without considering anything, your guilty plea, your mitigation, etc etc, straight away, 10 years. That's just a given. A minimum. Then anything above that 10 year minimum can be bargained for, discussed etc etc but first off you get found guilty of child molestation, 10 years, no parole, Bang, a decade.

It's a minimum of 5 years now but this happened between 1967 and 82 (I think) and the judge can only sentence on the maximum available at that time, which was 2 years.

Why should he? Whether people like it or not, people are sentenced according to the guidelines at the time of the offence. The judge has done so in this case.

I find length of sentences really difficult - he'll be a broken man whether its 15 months or 3 years. I would bring in automatic neutering for sexual assaults though.

Didn't you ban me 3 months ago today for suggesting the bbc has a 'ring' inside of it? One rule for one and not the other by the looks of things?
