Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
I think you should go for it mate !

I've never been on holiday on my own but next year am off to the West Indies in March for the winter cricket tour on my very ownsome.

I just thought f*** it, didn't know anyone else who wanted to go,no way the missus was going, and its my life long ambition to do it, been thinking about it for years every time it comes round and its was a now or never situation.

I think a lot of local people have more respect for lone travellers other than just dismissing them as Billy no mates.

Enjoy

By coincidence I'll be in Auckland in February if you fancy hooking up for a pint. I used to live there so know all the haunts. I think fellow NSC user GNF is still in Auckland too.

GNF certainly is in Auckland. I had a few beers with him a couple of months back. If you do go to NZ go to the South Island. To be honest, I have found New Zealand (and I've only been to the North) to be one of the most overrated places. Auckland is extremely quiet.

Interesting someone said NZ people are friendlier than Ozzies - not my experience either. They're both similar IMHO.

If you're worried about being lonely or bored, my advice would be to do a Contiki tour. Last January I was due to go to Sydney with my bird, but we split up so I had the same issue. I went on a Contiki tour & had the best time ever, so much so that I moved here! Follow this link:

Booked a trip this morning via Contiki (good advice Stumpy Tim). Was going to do NZ but unfortunate plumbing (in my flat, not me!) reduced the budget.

Doing West Coast, inc: LA, San Diego, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Pheonix, Grand Canyon, Yeosomite National Park, Bass Lake, Native American Reservation & more.

Bit apprehensive about going billy no mates. But pretty excited as I leave on 9 th Feb.

You'll have a great time. After Uni was in a similar position, mate I'd planned toi go travelling with for six months got a dream job and had to pull out so I went anyway and it was superb. The plusses are you do exactly what you want, and as long as you're not a total sociopath you will meet and hook up with like-minded individuals as you go - who you can then choose to stay as long with as you like.
