Jonny Wilkinson has been named as captain of the England egg-chasing team for their upcoming tests. Here Is he a natural leader? I would have thought they might have gone for Matt Dawson.
Except that MD isn't even in the squad after he decided that appearing on Question of Sport is more important than attending an England training camp.
Unfortunately there are no other cast iron selections in my opinion. Everyone says Vickery but he isn't an automatic first choice. One or two other candidates are near the end of their careers (Hill) so no real point in doing that, they learnt from that with Dallaglio.
Jonny leads by excample in his approach and will have the respect of his forwards cos he tackles as hard as any of them. The forwards will always have their natural leaders anyway so I don't see a problem there.
