Unfortunatley I was too young to experience the punk explosion of the late 70's, but having been into Punk since a young lad (old man brought me up on Clash, Rutts, Buzzcocks etc) and also into what wankers still call "new age punk" I can safely say that I like it and I dont give a toss what other people say about it!
Yeah avril and kelly are ripping money from big spenders as times change with music fads in the top 40 - but in 5 years time it'll be another genre of music dominating the MTV/Top 40 scene. Punk will still be around and I'll still be listening to the bands that matter to me.

You young lads out there are probably right but when I was 15 in 1977, he was a standard bearer for a movement that was great in the short time that it lasted. Going to see punk bands in those couple of years was an experience that sadly will never be repeated and certainly bears no relevance to the music scene today which in this old farts opinion is absolute bollocks!

It was, and still is, a quality record. Lydon himself has more charisma in his left earlobe than Lavigne and Kelly Osbourne put together. He is one of the most inspirational frontmen ever, and the Bill Grundy Nationwide interview IS one of the best bits of live TV I've ever seen.

As usual, he is spot on in his observations re. the nu-punk explosion.
