Since I got my ipod I having loving installed a good 200 CDs of music onto it, and am enjoying bonding with this white plastic marvel.

However, I appear to have a new problem. I complained before that occasionally I was getting a 'click' sound during tracks. I think it was Crabtree who recommended cleaning the drive n discs, which I did, and it worked a treat.

However, recently Ive been trying to import new albums from CD (Kings of Leon, Zero 7, Radiohead, etc), and am getting the same click, coupled with an occasional scrambling at the start of each song. Each of these CDs has the "Copy Protection" logo on it, so I assume this is why I am having problems. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, can I get round it (given my rudimentary PC setup and skills).

I was gonna put this on an ipod forum but got brutally websensed.... All help gratefully received...

I think its just the ipod searching for song, or the disc control panel is going off during songs as it makes a click noise,
try putting it on hold
cant say mine does it.

but the are great

Its not that - its "in" the track itself (for want of a better term).

Its the new Zero 7 cd, Kings of Leon, Radiohead (Hail to the Theif) and Mazzive Attack (Seventh Window, I think) - cue jokes about being better off without them.

My thinking is that the copy protection they use is causing a glitch which comes through in the recording.

Faldo, you're right - it is the copy protection putting the clicks in there. Obviously designed to stop people 'ripping' them. Pain in the arse when you actually own the cd though. There must be some sort of crack for it.

Hav'nt come across the copy protection thing myself and have read that its a "myth".

It could be the way you are ripping CD's, I use MusicMatch with a setting called "Digital Correction" enabled, not sure what it does but before when I turned it off I used to get slightly screwed up segments of songs, now all my ripped songs are clear. See if your ripping software has a simular option or inded any other options, read the help file to find out what they do and you may find the answer.

The CDs play fine - its just when they are run into the pc they get messy.

Crabbers - Im just using itunes, and dont have an internet connect to get anything new just yet. Any thoughts? - actually, as i think of it, there may be a similar option in i tunes. Faling that, i guess i could use editing software to wash out the clicks and then convert to AAC file.....

Oh - And Im using an old laptop (dell latitude - pentium 3 i think)

never used iTunes, best bet is to check out the settings/advanced settings for burning CD's and see whats in there, other than that cant help sorry :nono:

oh *could* be the CD drive itself, if they run too slowly (like in the old days) then burning seemed to screw up (for me anyway)

Thats what I'm afraid of... I'll have a fiddle with the software and go from there.

Cheers!
