o/t Event bouncers are Tw**s.

Went to the Event for the first time in years (I think I was 17 last time). Not my choice, but was my friends 24th birthday and she decided to re-live her "yoof"!

Went into the nightclub and got searched by one bouncer. I am sure he touched me up but wasn't too sure (was very drunk but I am sure touching breasts is not on the agenda).

Then we went into the queue to pay. Saw another bouncer looking depressed. My mate said "long day?" He didn't reply. I said "you look depressed" His response was "Shut the f**k up or I will chuck you out. I replied "pardon". He said "I told you once, if you want to stay here, don't answer back". I was completly livid. I do not understand how he felt the need to speak to me like that. I was drunk, but not out of my head. I wanted to get his name to complain but my friend said leave it or he would chuck us out. I wouldn't have minded getting chucked out that scummy club, but didn't want to ruin my mates birthday.

PS the music was rubbish, and we were the oldest people in there by a long shot.

Sorry to get that out of my chest, but I have never been treated so terribly in a night club.

I am still going to complain, but it doesn't help as I don't have his name.

And calm....

God, you're gonna get safeway started about when they twisted his arm.

The Event is shit, there is no reason to go there at all unless there is actually an event on there.

All bouncers are scum BTW. It's too much of a power trip for most of then to handle.

The event is for kids - period.

The place needs refurbishing, renaming and change it's music policy to be more grown up.

I would not go there if you paid me.

The best memory of The Event is when I saw the Shamen there is 1992 supported by Utah Saints - marvellous scenes!

BB - ignoring the fact that you were sad enough to go to that dump

..... you should complain and threaten prosercution for sexual assualt. Male bouncers / stewards / security staff are not allowed under any circumstances to physically search women.

The same goes for female staff searching men - although I would only complain if she was a minger !!! :p

I didn't realise that men were not allowed to search women.

As I said before, it is the first time I have been in there for 5 years, and I only went because it was my friends birthday and she wanted to go.

Agreed Westdene, I'm pretty sure that security staff (what those knucklehead call themselves apparantly) can only search their own sex. Hard situation though because if you complain and they don't let you in then it ruins your night.

.... forgiven !!!

It's also worth knowing that the employer is equally liable for the assault ..... worth pushing even if it's only for free tickets and booze ( dump it may be but free booze always wins me over ). :drink:

I've been searched by women bouncers many a time, one time in front of a copper and they didn't blink an eye so i think it might be okay for women to search men but i imagine its a little different the other way round because of incidents such as BB's on Friday.

I think I will complain, the behaviour was terrible. I cannot see why Danny goes there every week. I am not looking for free tickets and booze, but I am looking for an apology. Back to the Beach on Saturday nights me thinks!

CTS - you're making the assumption that Police Officers actually know the law ..... most don't !!!!

It's fine that you've been searched by a woman bouncer as you obviously didn't mind but the woman should have known that she is not allowed to search you - she should have asked one of her male colleagues - physical or sexual assault is equally enforcable either way round.

Not true, theres absolutly no law, rule or regulation that says male bouncers cant search females. Its *usually* not done to avoid accusations of assult. A female searching a female can just as easily be interpreted as sexuall harasment too, so many clubs wont both at all. If a club is worried about weapons, its difficult to conceal somthing in a bra, so you'll only be on serching blokes and ladies handbags. If a club is worried about drugs, the whole exercise is pointless unless you do a strip search, so clubs dont bother at all. Most (good) clubs dont bother serching anymore for this reason.

Point - The Event is a shitty club, and the bouncers are just searching to look good for cameras.

Most of the youngsters I've seen going into clubs these days its difficult to conceal anything at all!

why should it change its music policy?? It is the biggest and most popular club in Brighton, it plays music for "the people".

I can't see what it's doing wrong?

Must agree with Gunter, on my semi regular nights out in Brighton I find the Gloucester to be a top night out, with little or no trouble/attitude to speak of. I've always hated the Event since I was actually old enough to get in it, loved it when I was under age and it was a challenge all those years ago.

No change there then, they've always been humourless twats.

Made the switch to the Zap after a few visits and never looked back (at least the bouncers treated you decently if you were a member when you went in the place, though it was a free for all after that).

Mind you I wouldn't be able to know where was decent in Brighton any more, or even what it was called probably. God I'm old.
