I'm finding it rather tiresome, lucky I get to distract myself on boards like this.
well anyway....here it is
Uli was a wealthy and superficially successful actor, however, having become dissatisfied with his life he decided to commit suicide. Uli had a dislike of lawyers and so decided that, rather than leaving a will, he would dispose of his property shortly before ending his life.
On the morning of the fateful day Uli summoned two motorcycle couriers and handed each of them a briefcase with full delivery instructions. The first case contained £200,000 and was delivered to Uli’s friend Jeff. The case also contained a note from Uli asking Jeff to hold £150,000 of the money for the future benefit of Donny, a child actor with whom Uli had formerly worked. The second case contained £300,000 and was delivered to Jesus, Uli’s Agent, with written instructions that he invest the money and apply the income it generates at his absolute discretion to assist the welfare of any tall actor or actress whom it may seem to him may require such monetary assistance.
Uli then took his collection of 20th Century bronze sculptures and left them outside the back door of the house of Bunny, an actress with whom he had often worked in the past. He quietly posted a note through her door in which he wrote that, ‘You are to have and enjoy my bronzes which you have admired on a number of happier occasions, but if you should ever decide to sell them please invest the proceeds in supporting the efforts of new sculptors’.
Uli then attempted to telephone another friend, Walter, but was only able to reach Walter’s answer phone upon which he left a message in which he stated that he wished Walter to have the copyright of Uli’s successful autobiography, ‘A Nihilist in Paradise’ as a reward for his helpful and unselfish advice over the years.
Lastly Uli visited Maud, his sometime girlfriend, and told her of his plan to end his own life and his desire that she should have his house once he is dead. He gave her an envelope which he told her contained his front door key and the key to the safe in his study. Uli then told Maud that all the documents relating to the house were in the safe.
After leaving Maud Uli started his journey to the prominent local beauty spot at which he had told her that he intended to commit suicide, however, before he could reach his destination he was killed when a large tree fell upon his car.
You are consulted by Seamus, Uli’s brother and only next of kin. Seamus wishes to know the effect of Uli’s actions upon the above-mentioned property: in particular he wishes to know how much of this property he may expect to receive under the intestacy rules.
NB. You should assume that Uli was of sound mind for the duration of all of the incidents mentioned above and also that Seamus is the only person entitled to benefit from the intestacy rules if they apply to Uli’s estate.
