Once upon a time ... I used to have a designated role in the South East Region's Civil Defence plans that would be activated in the event of nuclear attack.
For all I know, those plans haven't been updated and my name might still be in the Organisational Chart.
Fortunately the vital part that I had to play in getting things back to normal after the bomb dropped meant that I wasn't going to be closeted in the council bunker along with all the local authority bigwigs.
I was always pleased about that. The prospect of spending my last day on earth locked up in a small room with Ann de Vecchi was never very appealing. Even less so these days.
