ntl server

I'm on ntl broadband at home. Recently the server's been down more often than not, and often slow even when it's running.

Does anyone know whether this is just a local glitch, or more widespread? Is it just temporary, or is it time to find another provider?

Any idea on what sort of timescale?

I've tried ringing and just end up stacked in some "Thank you for holding - You're call is very important to us" bloody queue.

Haven't got time for that.

You can change your proxy settings. I have a list of proxy servers for ntl when I am at home that I'll send you by pm.

If Huddersfield is playing up I change to the Leeds server

Proxy Servers

NTL web proxy caches (use port 8080) are as follows.

Old naming scheme: inktomiN-xxx.server.ntl.com
New naming scheme: cacheN-yyyy.server.ntli.net

where xxx is the old 3-character abbreviation for the area, and yyyy is the new 4-character abbreviation. Newly installed caches get the new form of name only, some old caches have both names running in parallel. At the time of writing (2003 Feb), reverse lookups on the IP address of some old caches yield the old form of name.

No.
I got fed up with my server constantly playing up and a friend of mine (who is a techy) sent me a file and showed me what to do.

I simply copied and pasted the file.

Eddie I haven't a clue
:lolol:

At least you showed the initiative!

My Mum called me round to fix her Digital Receiver earlier - the SCART cable had simply fallen out??
