NTL Broadband - Cable Modem

Anyone experienced intermittent and apparently random net connection losst over the last couple of nights? And if so, any idea what it is?
I've e-mailed NTL and normally I have no problems but I'm baffled.
It's rectified by a re-boot and is Ok for 10 minutes or so and then just loses the connection. I've checkd the USB connections and that seems OK.......?
Any advice gratefully received. And if I don't reply, you'll know I've been cut off again !

Coach03, I had a similar problem over the past few weeks but mainly with my tv connection , the picture kept freezing and a reboot didn't always work. Sod's law it usually happened after the helpdesk went home in the evening or at a weekend, consequently my internet connection was off as well.
Eventually I was given a new set top box as the error codes that I was getting on the display indicated that I needed one.
Don't know if this might be a similar problem to yours though. However good luck with getting through to their helpdesk my 3 calls must have averaged about half an hour each before anyone answered my call!!

My mate has NTL Broadband and he says it is hardly ever working.

On the other hand me and AOL are getting along perfectly

I experienced these problems a couple of weeks ago. Again it was intermittment.
An engineer came out after the third time I had called NTL (the fault engineers I spoke to previously sent signals down the line and this temporarily appeared to work but the following day no e-mail or internet again) . You won't believe this, but when the engineer arrived he tested the signal strength and put the problem down to the recent warm weather. He removed a small connection that fits on the top of the cable going into the set top box. Apparently this regulates the signal strength. During the warm weather it was minminising the signal and hence no internet/e-mail.
It's been fime since although it will be interesting when the cold weather comes around and the signal potentially will be too strong !

You might want to check the cable at the back. I had similar problems but never got to see an engineer (They say that they'll call to arrange a time and then you get in from work to find a postcard saying you missed them even though you haven't arranged a time yet!).

Anyway, I found that the cable at the back had worked a bit loose as it hangs down so tightened it up and it's been fine since.

Thanks guys. I got cut off agian last night a little while after I posted this! It's doing it again tonite.
I sent their Tech desk a request for assistance via the website so I'll see what they say, but I'll certainly try the connection from the modem to the TV and make sure that's OK. And if I have to phone their helpdesk I'll mention the similar issues you have pointed out. Thanks for your help and support.
