Hello,

I'm looking to go away for five days come the end of November and am looking for suggestions from NSC's travel gurus

Anyone able to suggest somewhere that's off the beaten track, no more than a few hours flight away, and has lots of history and culture to explore? Weather's not a concern. Currently toying with Beirut, Yerevan, or Istanbul, but am open to suggestions.

One of my best holidays, nearly 10 years ago now was to Croatia. Split and Dubrovnik are great, as are all the tiny islands to explore.

It may not qualify as "off the beaten track", but Berlin, in the run-up to Christmas, is well worth a visit.

Already going to Germany in the next couple of months, but Berlin is a cracking city!
