Who's been banned.

I figured 'they' were on a break that just so happened to coincide with an utter humiliation.

AlfredMizen has been " terminated ", for one.

Going back a few months I was really starting to despair of NSC, with the large number of hate threads running. I am not of course referring to football, but the general anti-anyone who is different from me threads and racial stereotyping, of oh look another crime committed by someone who is....

I have no doubt whatsoever that your views are sincere, but when I read this it genuinely feels like I must be being served different NSC content to that which you see.

I don't share this sense of dispair at all but then maybe I'm not looking hard enough or in the right places.

I don't regard any anonymous abuse directed against me as cowardly, funnily enough. But that sort of thinking seems to be related to the way some people regard inter-club abuse at football ('see you outside; you ran away' sort of malarkey). It never occurs to me to settle a dispute with fisticuffs, so perhaps the veiled threats have whooshed me. Do people want to hit me, or think I want to hit them? Crikey! Certainly not.

I must confess that rough language is water under the bridge in the tackle household. Mrs T is quite posh sounding, as those on here who have met her will attest, but she wouldn't think twice about calling me a charlie Uncle (etc) as long as the nipper wasn't in earshot, of course.

I suppose what I'm saying is that I hope that most of the people I have abused on NSC have accepted the context, and ....

No, **** it. I can't wheedle out of this. If I have surprised anyone with an unexpected outburst of effing and blindery, and this has caused genuine offence, I apologise. That said, the quotes pasted by whoever the shitehouse stalking cockwombe was, above, however; I stand by every word. Some quality bon mots there. Quality :lolol:

After much preamble, at last the truth! Yes, I know what you mean about cowardly anonymous name-calling; it all depends on what is actually said and context, perhaps. If it is a straight argument between 2 people and they are both at each others' internet throats, then I see your point. But if someone has made a fair point and then a whole set of trolls of an extreme political persuasion resort to quite unjustified and unnecessary abuse, designed to humiliate, then I would call that cowardly, as I am sure that you, as a reasonable poster, would do also.

Yes, I agree with that. But the 'b' word would be the one that would register with me first. Bullying. I hate bullying. Someone who has posted on this thread was, to my mind, bullied last year, and he sent me a PM at the time, by way of seeking a bit of support, which I found profoundly touching. I hope I was some help.

I think my original comment on this thread (I think it was this thread) about NSC being largely great was informed by my impression of huge amounts of cameraderie on here. I think NSC is brilliant.

I also think, and this may seem a bit counter intuitive, that some regular posters find it difficult to communicate with empathy, and sometimes come out with things that the more sophisticated experienced international metrosexuals on here find gauche, primitive and even offensive. I saw earlier today one regular poster, who I think is decent, being battered for calling someone 'gay'. Don't wish to sound patronising, but he probably doesn't know why anyone would be offended. I had to call my son out, 18 years ago, for the same, when as a youngster he knew no better. Not everone moves in the same circles. Some people actually don't have gay mates. Who would have known???

I just realised that this sounds like a load of patronizing hifalutin' middle class load of old bollocks. Haha! So what. I'm posting it anyway. Happy Christmas!

Recently things seem much better and this may be connected to one or two banishments from the forum, but reading through the club statement, is NSC getting it right?

Bozza's comment that NSC is not mumsnet, is always something that comes back to me, when I try and get this straight in my own head. I like a lot of the debates on here and enjoy chipping in on a number of subjects, it can be a good way to let off steam. I also think the system of infractions and short bans, is helpful, for when someone for whatever reason has gone off on one and needs to calm down. There are however a small number of people, who add nothing positive at all and I also find it frustrating sometimes, when posters who have been a right PITA are allowed to come back with a new username and quickly resort to posting the same old SH1TE.

So is NSC getting it right? Personally I think broadly speaking it is working, but I would like to see a small number of permanent bans and a little less tolerance to thread starters, who never seem to contribute to anything else to the forum other than hatred.

Depends - Are you Generation Snowflake?

It’s all worth openly backing the person being bullied by the political know-it-alls, if you think they have a valid point. The mob will will type away to infinity anyway, naively believing that having the last say makes them “right”.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
And a cracking line in porno gifs. I spent a couple of hours going through one of their threads last night and I was absolutely disgusted.
Although I note it took you two hours to assess it....

Anyway, personally I don't think NSC is much worse or better than it has been in previous years, although many of the people are different from when I started lurking. There are still plenty of nutcases out there, as well as a few sensible.

The Brexit thread is just bloody tedious trolling though, so I avoid it like the plague.

Yes, yes, that was my little joke, as in 'I stumbled into a screeing of that Last Tango in Paris and was so disgusted that after an hour and 20 minutes I stormed out'. Eric Morcambe, so I recall. FFS If it wasn't Christmas I'd incur the wrath of the bloke who's stalking me, with another fiesty quote for his cyber scrap book.

I think I need to hook up with Stat Brother so we can stare moodily through a broken bus shelter window at the world as it slowly turns grey and drops into the backside of a black hole.

:lolol::thumbsup:

Just kidding.

Anyway, don't just avoid the Brexit thread like the plague; treat clichés with the same determination punk:

I'd better get my coat now.....

That's because the problem of Brexit is insoluble. And, it will rumble on for years. I was in the barbers today and there was a bloke in one of the chairs banging on that the EU were punishing us for wanting to leave and that loads of other countries all wanted out too, he was getting louder and louder until the barber working on the chair next to him said " But whatever happens, nothing will change, I'll still have a head of hair to cut for the same money "

Bigots, racists, homophobes, morons and sabre-rattlers on NCS are dealt with by the majority of fair minded and erudite responders who more often than not call them out for stupid or potentially offensive remarks and dismantle extreme rants with well thought out, intelligent responses. Seems to work fine IMO. All topics can end up with extreme differences of opinion and that is good. I like to see the varied opinions and counter arguments, allowing full spectrum of perspectives to be discussed, no matter how distasteful, stupid or offensive they may be.

BTW OP, 'hate speech' is legally defined and does not include offensive opinions, having a pop at someone or having opinions of race/religion etc that you find 'offensive'. If we can't talk about difficult subjects without running to a 'safe space' then those difficult, but necessary conversations just won't happen.

One of the things I love most about NSC is the way that 90% of posters rally round anyone bravely revealing mental health issues (with replies or PM’s). This has been the way for some considerable time on NSC, long before the recent media attention on the subject. I suspect that some sufferers have been tangibly helped by this support, which is bloody amazing.

One or two posters tried to mock them with the “man up” type bullshit, but they were rounded on.

NSC - ahead of its time.

Considering the amount of infractions I've had in the past and the fact I never been nasty to anyone I must be the nicest person to be thrown out of NSC:moo:

Never been banned, had two infractions, the most recent being five years ago. Try not to resort to abuse but I am only human.....

Not so much as a yellow card so far in my NSC career.

Good luck Bozza, you're riding it well. Even cynical me is impressed with you. No place for racism now, as you have no doubt been told by the club executives.

These days I nearly always keep my politics on FB and Twitter and come here for the Albion. Easier and less stressful for all concerned, including yours truly :)

See I am completely the opposite as I do not push any political views on FB as they are my friends and family and you don't discuss things like that with them Imo because it ends in divide, not from me but sometimes others judge you one-dimensionally.

Most political stuff I see on my FB is mainly from my lefties friends and its only been recent that the right side has started throwing a bit back.

On NSC it's more banter and then we can switch to the Albion and debate that!!

Looking back, the NSC mod’s have done a brilliant job of weeding out extremists and the unpleasant using the forum to espouse their warped view of humanity.

This bunch variously found realities such as suicide and The Holocaust amusing:

Although they were only a noisy minority, it feels even safer on NSC now.
