Tie of the round?
Africa- Managed by Adam El Abd (player manager)
These guys have the potential to be the real neutrals favourites. There is an abundance of talent here with flair, pace and some glorious physiques. Coach El-Abd has caused some controversy by calling up former Swedish international Rami Shaaban with his justification being "his name sounds African" which he said glaring at the tournaments administrators, topless and flexing his muscles. They decided to allow it. Absolutely breezed through the first round without much effort at all
GK: Rami Shaaban- Played 6 games for Brighton in 2005 having been previously considered a replacement for David Seaman at Arsenal. Played for African team Sweden 16 times including at the 2006 World Cup
RB: Tariq Lamptey- Impossibly quick pint sized right back who played for Ghana at the 2022 World Cup
CB: Adam El-Abd- Brighton born hard as nail wind up merchant played 300 times for Brighton and 7 times for the Egyptian national side
CB: Leon Balogun- Only really known for 1 goal and did very little else. Played for Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup
LB: Gaeten Bong- Popular Left Back and a key member of the Championship promotion side
CM: Enock Mwepu- Was on course to become an real fans favourite at the club before his untimely retirement
CM: Yves Bissouma- Survived an inconsistent start to become one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League
CM: Carlos Baleba- Has made a great start at the club and could well be the elusive Caicedo replacement
FW: Simon Adingra- Speed and skill merchant who has also made a strong start at the club
FW: Lloyd Owusu- Was an ageing journeyman striker by the time he arrived at Brighton on loan from Cheltenham Town (wtf). His 7 goals in 14 games and lethal partnership with Gary Hart (wtf) helped keep the club up whilst raising the roof on a constant basis
FW: Percey Tau- took a long time before Albion fans believed that he actually existed before his work permit saga was resolved, saving fans the time of constantly checking where South Africa were in the world rankings
Subs: Adam Chicksen, Mustapha Carayol, Ade Akinbiyi, David Adekola, Abdul Razak, Emeka Ifejiagwa, Kazenga Lualua
vs
Rest of Europe A- Managed by Roberto de Zerbi
Roberto de Zerbi brings this rag tag selection of misfits to Withdean. This is a talented side with an exceptional manager but could a lack of cultural unity be their downfall? Expect to see Casper Ankergren have a part to play as the tournament progresses. They're organised and motivated with a lot of talent. These guys could cause a few upsets.
(3-4-3)
GK: Tomasz Kuszczak- Polish goalkeeper who got to know Oscar Garcia's wife during his time here (allegedly)
DF: Uwe Hunemeier- Outrageously reliable German centre back who was a key member of Brighton's watertight defence that saw them get promoted
DF: Ivar Ingimarsson- Was only at the club for a short time but was a composed, reliable defender. Played 30 games for the Iceland national team
DF: Stefan Iovan- Won the European Cup with Steaua Bucharest and later enjoyed a 6 game spell at Brighton. Was capped 34 times by Romania and ended up as Assistant Manager for the national team
DM: Radostin Kishichev- Was incapable of moving by the time he came to Brighton but was absolutely hard as nails and was able to dominate games from a static position. Was capped 88 times by Bulgaria and played at Euro 96
CM: Jakub Moder- The most handsome player in the Premier League. Officially
CM: Pascal Gross- Has the record for most Gross Turns in Albion history. Possibly our best ever signing?
AM: Joao Texeira- Great loan signing and a rare bright spark in a wretched season. Sadly got injured towards the end of that season and his career has never really recovered
FW: Sergei Gotsmanov- One of the biggest cult heroes in Albion history. Played for the Soviet Union at Euro 88 as part of his 31 caps for the Communist Icons, later played for Belarus
FW: Ashley Barnes- Austrian forward who when he wasn't dining on schnitzel or going skiing was a key member of Brighton's front line for 4 seasons
FW: Deniz Undav- German forward who has struggled to settle in England but was a key member of the side last season
Subs: Casper Ankergren, Ezequiel Schelotto, Florin Andone, Markus Suttner, Jiri Skalak
