Chepstow officials are optimistic Wednesday's meeting featuring the Coral Welsh Grand National will go ahead despite feeling it prudent to call a precautionary inspection at 7.

The going was described as heavy, soft in places on Tuesday.

"If we get the ranges that are forecast of around 15mm we'd be pretty confident we'd be on," said clerk of the course Keith Ottesen.
