very interesting question. I've never even driven past it, seeing it as `sacred ground` - and vowed I never would until we have a new home built to replace the Goldstone. Now however, my general demeanour is lighter and happier and I don't think I'd mind a visit. Won't make an effort to do so, but may not, may not make an effort not to.
Also very interested in the comments that maybe because of Archer's antics we have got a new ground - and I agree. Hateful man, we owe him nothing but bile, but I do agree with the poster.

I'd say it is OK. And the funny things is - without Bill Archer we'd never have got Falmer.

So Archer's arrogance, stupidity and greed have helped us win the day.

Why don't we lay on a party for him? Perhaps at the Burger King?

This old chestnut keeps coming up. The answer must be no. It will never be OK.

Use the internet to buy anything and never eat that BK crap.

I can't understand why anyone would want to go there? Bizarre.

I'd say it is OK. And the funny things is - without Bill Archer we'd never have got Falmer.

Don't get me wrong, he's still an evil piece of shite who was never interested in anything but his own wallet and ego, but if we'd stayed at the Goldstone?

Every year we'd have lavished time and money on feasibility studies, transport reports, political lobbying, plans, assessments of Sheepcote or Falmer or Waterhall or Shoreham etc etc. And every time we put in an application, the repsonse would have been "But you've already got a ground. The Goldstone."

And so the place would have got steadily more decrepit (assuming that was possible) and we'd have mouldered away as Div 3 team (at best) with nothing but vague hope of finding an elusive new stadium to sustain us.

We could only have got Falmer (with all the pain that's entailed) by being homeless. So Archer's arrogance, stupidity and greed have helped us win the day.

Get down the Goldstone Retail Park is you so wish. (Though my tip is buy a washing machine online - they all look the same anyway).

I don't buy this. I'm pretty sure the covenant restricting building on the East side was lifted before we lost the Goldstone and the site would have been big enough to expand. I understand there was even talk of moving the pitch 90% a la Blackpool.

Without Archer I reckon we could have significantly enhanced and developed the Goldstone - in fact more or less rebuilt it completely; and with no hassle needed to search for a new site.

I will personally go there after the first match at Falmer.

Have to agree that if the Goldstone wasn't sold off, we would never have got a new ground. Which is not to justify the scandal of it's sale.
