I have often wondered about the merits of the freedom of the press as it seems to be abused on such a regular basis, but this story if proven is probably one step too far, whatever censure is deemed appropriate to that scurrilous rag is probably not severe enough.

I don't read the Sun, the News of the World, the Times or subscribe to Sky TV so there's no boycott I can make BUT I'm hoping the mugs that do support this twisted news organisation make a statement by doing a Liverpool and never buy the NOTW or Sun ever again.

Utterly despicable behaviour and the authorities need to make an example of those involved

I would imagine the police could press charges for interfering with evidence, which the text messages may well have been, or wasting police time because the parents believed their daughter was still alive thus delaying the start of a murder enquiry rather than pursuing a missing person.
