No surprise but still disappointing. I know I'll get slagged off for being negative but the squad looks nowhere strong enough for a promotion challenge and I think we'll do very well to finish in the top half. I guess Tony Bloom had put in a ridiculous amount of money to the club so it's fair enough that he is now putting a stop on the investment into the playing side of things.

I agree. And been saying this for a while. We're def missing the stability Gus had bought us over the yrs. Unfortunately many on here were blinkered when we won 2 in a row (the same fans who moan loudest when we lose). Of course I would do anything to be completely WRONG on this!

What utter nonsense.

Can't u see we're playing nowhere nr as well as we were back end of last season? It's opinion of course but the turmoil of the Summer has taken its toll and I think this is a transitional yr, assuming Oscar is still manager for start of next season of course.

Hmmm, not overly enthused by this to be honest. I'm sure I'll get called a bed wetter and various other churlish snipes, but when the Chairman says the budget is the same as last year I'd expect at least 1 significant signing. We've replaced Bridge with Ward, Hammond with Agustien, Vicente with Andrews, Painter with Chicksen and promoted a few kids from the development squad. I can't help but feel we haven't improved the squad at all. I'm glad we've kept Leo and Liam but 1 signing would have been nice. I'm sure I sound ungrateful because we have a great stadium and bla bla bla but this window shows a real lack of intent in my opinion. We're desperately relying on all our players remaining fit pretty much constantly.

I'm happy with this. Keeping Bridders and Ulloa is like a signing in itself. I'm happy with our business this window. The likes of Ward and Andrews could realistically be loans with a view to permanent moves whereas with Bridge last season, let's be honest, we always knew someone else with more financial clout would come in and offer him more doh. There was always that shadow hanging over that position. Having two lads who may see themselves here next season as well, alongside a fit Kemy, may add a bit more stability.

A new striker on-loan and, for me, a fast, central, creative attacking midfielder in the loan window please.

And there is certainly nothing wrong with nurturing our own talent and letting the young English lads have a go. Unleash the raw, young talent that we have. It's refreshing to have the likes of March, JFC, Ince, Barker et al all pushing the senior the squad. Whilst Ince will undoubtedly drop back to the bench when Bridders is back, think of how much this first-team experience is going to help him develop. That can only be good news for the club.

Since August 2012, we've added Bruno, Crofts, TomKusz, Orlandi, Spanish Dave, Ulloa, Upson, Ward, Andrews, and Agustien. All, Ulloa aside, players either internationals or substantial top flight experience.
We've offered new contracts to Buckley, Barnes (apparently) & El Abd. And still have lengthy contracts with CMS, Bridcutt, Lua Lua, and Calde. This is a much stronger squad that last year finished 4th in the championship. (Bridge aside)

And looks like we've started to develop real young prospects such as Ince, JFC, Dunk, March and Starkey.
We've sold or lost Bridge, Vicente but also Dobbie, Noone, Painter, Dicker, Harley, Elphick, and Navarro. None of which anyone on NSC is clamouring for a return.
The days of Murray and a transfer deadline day trio of Sandoza, Lua Lua (on loan) and Adgenstein are long gone.
We've also supposedly just turned down multi million pound offers for our two biggest players. We're not a selling club.

Bridge and Vicente aside. We've strengthened our squad substantially in Summer 12, Sept 12, Jan 13, and Summer 13 only losing Bridge and Vicente who rarely played ie: continuously over the last 13 months. Is the squad going to win promotion ? Who knows , its a very difficult league with teams with substantially bigger , Sky fuelled, budgets than us. Is our squad capable of being Top 6 though and stronger than at end of Deadline Day last year. Definitely...

Good summary

And fair play to Bloom.

He could have recouped upwards of 8 million quid by selling Barnes, LB and Leo today.

For this im very happy tonight. Plus we have a stronger centre midfield with Andrews and Agustein, Upson on a permanent, experienced left back in Ward. All good at the end of the day

Classic smoke and mirrors again by the club in the transfer window. We end up so grateful for the fact that we have retained our best players that we forget all about the complete absence of any new players to strengthen the side. I think we've been had folks. :)

We did our deals - Agustien, Andrews, Ward, Upson way before the deadline. That's got to be good.

Let's hope for 1 or 2 in as 93 day loans to take us to January, and perhaps a bit of cash available in that window.

Well, it may not be as exciting as some people would like, but to me we've behaved like a financially prudent club that refuses to pay silly money for average players and has managed to hang on to all of its most saleable players. Well played chaps.

Assuming we're done then it has been a good transfer window. We were the 2nd best team in the league last season once we'd signed Ulloa and Upson. Losing Bridge does not suddenly make us incapable of making the top 6 again. And the new signings, Agustien and Andrews, are better than the players they've replaced.
