[Albion] Not entirely sure what a penalty is any more....

You are correct. It was a clear handball and the natural position element does not play a part if the outcome is a goal.
I believe this is only the case when the goal-scorer handles the ball.

The onscreen explanation, during the game, stated that they had decided Mitoma "deliberately" handled the ball.

The one I don't get is the clear handball when the ball came back off the post from Ayari's free kick. The Villa players arm wasn't in a natural position and he moved it towards the ball , and it wasn't at close range so he could have got his arm out of the way- he was outside the 6 yard box and deflected it away from danger. I was sure VAR would award a pen but no screen announcement saying it was even being looked at. A season ago it would have been a penalty. Still it saved Jack from taking the pen.

I still think the Mitoma one is debatable and the Villa keeper and defender presented the ball to Adingra not Mitoma.

Mitoma situation no penalty. Thought it was stonewall in real time but on the replay you can see there's too little contact and he throws himself. Too bad. Stay up for another 0,5 seconds and he either gets a shot off or a penalty.

The Jack Hinshelwood tackle was a penalty all day all night and I was shocked and thankful they somehow didn't give it.

No penalty on the Ayari post shot rebound, the Wolves player was clueless.

As for the Mitoma handball that ruled out the goal, I think its harsh. On most replays it looks like it hits the bicep. From the main angle they showed to the ref, it looks more like the elbow area. Imho in situations where its 50/50: give the goal, people who watch football likes goals.

Havnt they made the rule something like if a defender handles the ball in a natural position then it’s not a penalty but if there is any handball in the build up to a goal no matter if it’s a natural position or not then the goal won’t stand? I could be wrong as they change the rules around it here and there.
Not according to the handball rules in use this week, although it could well be true again by next week

According to the Sky Sports Live Blog VAR did check the Ramsey handball and dismissed it pretty quickly, the screen normally only displays a note about a VAR check when there is a delay to the game and the check was over before the next stop in play so no need to display anything in this case.

They got it wrong then IMO.
Accidental or not if your arm is sticking out (these days), it is a risk.

I'm not making a judgement on this incident, more that you can find an incriminating freeze frame to prove basically any decision one way or another
It's true.

I've never forgotten this since the first time I saw it. We all know it but often forget it.
