North west corner!

Got something to say or just want fewer pesky ads? Join us... 😊

Although when the whole ground get going the noise is awesome we managed to get out sung by 1200 boro fans!
We need to make the new seats in the north west corner a tolerance zone for singing possibly under 25 area with cheap seats for the u18's.
Its very hard for all the youngsters spread around the ground to get together and kick up a prolonged show of support,as we know the older fans spend too much time in the bar drinking and eating pies and queuing for toilets, lets give a section over to the up coming fans, its our last chance to tamper with the atmo before we are all stuck in our season ticket seats. If you do recall the old north stand it was not full of 40/50 fat bald men(well unless west ham were in town) I know my son would love to seat with all his mates a recreate the away type support at home.
The n/w corner would be ideal for igniting and feeding off the north and west stands.Come on guys you know it makes sense:thumbsup:

Great idea,we had a singing block at Withdean so why not there?

It does make sense:)
Instead of having under 25s, have people who will always sing because I know for a fact my dad, 50 next birthday, is still loud :)

But to be fair if i was 15 again i would not want some 50 year old singing next to me it might spoil the moment,no reason why the older age groups can not kick up a din in other parts of the ground.
Its a big ground give a corner over to the younger fans please, with the younger fans moving to a certain area it would give the older fans a chance to sit together,i love going with the boys but i can see they are itching to get amongst the throng,no way was i going with the old farts when i was 14:blush:

Up here on the left.
You are obsessed with crowd noise. It's a shame you don't pay as much attention to the football. Anyway it just isn't true that all young people are noisy and all older ones are quiet. I'm an old git but I make lots of noise, whereby the teenagers that sit in the row in front of me never make a sound.

I thought the north was promoted as the 'singing section' so not sure what difference this will make

Also there are lots of under 25's near me who don't sing (in fact it is the 'older' ones who appear to make more effort). So not sure what the age thing achieves

Perhaps we should just accept that like every other ground in the country when there is nothing entertaining happening on the pitch then little noise comes from the stands

What i'm saying is there is probably several hundred teenagers round the ground who as part of growing up would like to sit with mates now they have got a taste of the big match atmo,it was quite difficult for 12 year olds to know where they wanted to sit prior to falmer opening but now this age group is pushing 15 and are probably wanting to get together with mates,i'm not saying every teenager has to be forced into the corner but this is a great chance for a young vibrant part of the ground to compliment the other areas, with the high proportion of ticket holders its hard for like minded groups to get together hence the problem of getting out sung by 1200,the youngsters are more likely to sing in the company of their peer group, all this does is give more choice. This would not be in competition with the other areas but compliment them lets not let the amex turn into an over priced over aged premier morgue.???

All grounds are not the same and tb wanted us to be on the stoke model, age and price and all seater's have affected the atmo BUT WE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT 2 OF THOSE,I UNDERSTAND YOU ARE GOING TO NIGGLE BECAUSE THATS WHAT YOU LIKE DOING BUT I STILL VALUE YOUR OPINION AND KNOWLEDGE.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
Maybe you couldn't hear it from where you were but I thought the North stand was as noisy as normal. I only heard the Boro fans a couple of times throughout the whole game.

We need to keep ramping up the atmosphere that's what new young fans want? It even could start as you arrive outside the ground all idears are worth looking at as we start to take our new brilliant facilities for granted? If our vision is to compete at the top level in the future we need to delope our fan base bigger than our capacity. Good idear Rev I don't want screaming kids next to me I want an over 60 section(next season) in the WSU with oxygen pubs next to the Harvey's pumps.keep the good idears going.

It's one of the only problems with having sell outs is there are no free space for people to move around. One of the reasons why away support is always much better is because most the singers group up, where as at home they are spread out. I know it would never happen but they should make the north stand unallocated seating.

the op's original post is very eloquently put, but to get any sustained noise from a home crowd, then you have to be enjoying what's happening on the pitch......I am one of the quiet majority, and have noticed over the past three home games a general Withdean 'hush' around the ground........of course the away support will make more noise.....they're winning !!!

from where i was sitting the whole 1200 got behind the team but thats an away thing i suppose, and you are spot on about grouping up the north corners are the last chance to do this so i just think we should make it easier.

So if you were a STH in that section, what would happen after your 25th birthday?

You will be monitored and if you have sung enough you can stay.
