North American beers

While enjoying a day off work for the Independence Day holiday the subject of beer came to mind. Nasty Miller and Bud products aside there are actually some decent beers to be had. Taking the liberty of including Canada some tried and tested chez Mays include :

Well as it happens I do have some Corona in the fridge.
It was 107F when I was driving home yesterday so Corona hits the spot.
Come winter it will be replaced with more suitable beers but for
now it does a job.
Good to have some representation from the physically challenged.
Any bi-peds care to join this discussion?

When I came to the US 21 years ago, it was a pitiful state of affairs for beer drinkers.

There are now at least 300 decent local and regional beers being brewed. In fact, it seems as though the UK has become a bigger market for the simply awful weak piss like lager that used to dominate.

I have a deep seated hatred for Coors, Miller, Budweiser beverage products plus assorted regional products like Schmidts, Pabst, Genesee, Old Milwaukee. They are all essentially piss water.

I confess to being a total beer snob, but anyone who thinks American beer is some kind of a joke, is sadly deluded. The US is now right up there with the best in the world in terms of variety and quality. In such a vast country I can only suggest you find you local microbrewer and give their stuff a try.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of beer in the US. I went to a brilliant bar in Reno. They had beer from the Great Basin Brewing Co, in Sparks, Nevada. I mean quality beer. Also went to a brew pub in Auburn, Ca. Again lovely beer.

It's been a cracking day so far. 90 degrees outside, and nothing to do apart from sit and drink (and wander to the shop when I ran out of Fat Tire, that was a scary couple of minutes).
