I would have been happy with playing players like Marney, McPhee and Harding all season and consolidating in Division 2 as we can't really afford Division 1 until Falmer. !

I too would settle for playing the youngsters. If some can be seen to be regulars in the 1st team, it may encourage other youngsters to join the Albion rather than London teams. A decent youth set up will save this club so much money in the long run and is the only way to build a team that can challenge to get into the Premiership. Falmer will swallow all the money for years to come, so we need some way of financing a decent team. The youth system will be the cheapest.

Which reminds me, any news of a contract for Jake Robinson yet?

But how many other fans would settle for mid table mediocrity for the next 2 or 3 seasons? It is the sensible way to go but we're still under the illusion we're a big club. When we get Falmer, we will be a big club again. At the moment, size of support is irrelevant. Taking 2000 to away games is all well and good but we get no cash from that. We can only get 7000 paying customers every 2 weeks. With no money gained from food fanchises and advertising, we are a big club in a small clubs body at present. We lose a couple of games (admittedly looking very poor indeed) and fans are demanding new signings. I don't think patience would last if we blooded 3 or 4 youth players in addition to McPhee and Hinshelwood.

Coppell is a **** for leaving us in the shit, and this is the fall-out. However, there are several reasons why we shouldn't be beating ourselves up at this point:

1. We're only 3 points off the top spot
2. We've got a new manager with new ideas
3. We've got a quality goalscorer who is a match-winner
4. We've been in a similar position before under Taylor, and ended up Champions.
5. This division is weak and there is no team we should fear.

We should be aiming for McGhee to introduce a couple of new faces, stay in touch with the play-off places and then really finding form in the last 10 games of the season, winning the Play-Off Final at Cardiff.
