After 5 exciting seasons the Albion have reverted to being a team of also rans, which is what they've been for most of their 100 years.

It was great while it lasted, how long before we enjoy success again? Don't continue being fooled by our current heady position, we've done nothing all season to make me believe that we will be anywhere near the top come May.

Am I wrong??

It only needs a couple of midfielders, a winger or two and a couple of defenders plus a goalie and things'll be fine:angry:

I don't mind us losing-it's the rollover and die way we've been losing lately.

The heart has been torn out of the team and their spirit, passion and commitment has all but gone. God alone knows how we have got ourselves into this position...but we have.

Who mentioned a downward spiral you muppet.

All the time Knight is chairman we'll have to put up with the fuckwit ramblings of you and that other plank FG-which is a relatively small price to pay for having possibly the best chairman in the country.

Leon Knight in August and Ben Roberts in May.

I seem to remember everyone being ecstatic about these signings and both on two year contracts too.

I know - how soon we forget. If McGhee doesn't work out, people on here will be blaming Knight - even though they supported the decision initially. A lot of people on here are like the opposition party in politics - quick to criticise when things go wrong and conveniently forgetting that they supported the policies that led to the problem.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - there are 91 other league clubs who all want to win things. We have no divine right to win the league or automatically get a sugar daddy. Yes, we're going through a very bad patch. Yes, we need a new midfield. But not at the expense of financial security. McGhee knew the budget when he joined so will hopefully be able to turn it around. If not, the team we've got should be good enough for mid table - the fate of half the other clubs in the division.

And finally a plea - will people please stop bleating about the lack of money with the current board and wittering on about sugar daddies. Put up or shut up! If you know 100% of a mega rich potential investor who has been refused by Knight then post details and I will support it. Otherwise, you might as well complain about Knight not signing Henry or Beckham. If you want Steven Purdew runiing this club then good luck to you - start looking for a second team now so you're ready when he runs the club into the ground.

Spot on.

When I saw the result yesterday I was wondering whether it would be worth logging on to NSC as I knew exactly what was likely to be said, somebody moaning about the manager, somebody moaning about the lack off money, one or two wanting to get rid of Knight and/or getting rid of half the team. God it is depressing hearing people whinge, particularly those who have not been to the match. And as for that ridiculous post about not cheering on the team next saturday, it beggars belief.

Class post from the Great Cornholio. Couldn't agree more. We have a similar amount of money to most teams in our division. i.e. none. Difference is we are not going to be shafted by a tosser chairman who spends money we haven't got and then buggers off. We should be SO f****** grateful for the success we've had over recent years - back to Brighton, top class managers and two championships and all this from a club operating with one hand tied behind it's back all the time we're playing at Withdean. Once we're up and running at Falmer then perhaps we can aspire to more permanent greatness. It really isn't the end of the world if we don't get promotion this year. Look at clubs like QPR and Bristol City who've been around in Div 2 for a while with arguably more cash to spend. Bottom line: Dick Knight goes, who takes over who has more money, is a fan, can find great managers and can ultimately deliver Falmer? Answer.....anyone?

Spot on ToT, TGC and DD. I was disappointed but not surprised at the threads on NSC yesterday (Sunday) which were the usual 'Get Rid Of Everybody And Get People With Money On The Board' stuff we get after a spineless defeat. I'm not knocking the posters (except the anti-DK ones) because it's just emotions running high - which is what football's all about.

At the start of the season I thought we'd finish about 10th and despite recent results I actually think we will finish higher than that. Mind you that says more about the poor quality of the division than it does about our team.

PS - Have there been any 'Mcghee Out!' thread yet?

Same here - I'm not sure why I still look on NSC after games like the Lincoln one because these posts always exist and I always bite. The posts that annoy me are the ones claiming Knight is running down the team and concentrating 100% on Falmer. Why did he not give the job to Booker then if that's the case? He went for the man most likely to win the 2nd Division. I know I'm in the minority here but I would have been happy with playing players like Marney, McPhee and Harding all season and consolidating in Division 2 as we can't really afford Division 1 until Falmer. But Knight has backed the signing of players like Knight and Roberts which seems to me to show a lot of ambition.

As you say, emotions are bound to be running high after a defeat like that and of course people are entitled to their opinions. But if they wind me up enough, don't be surprised if I bite! :)

Hopefully McGhee will have seen enough of the team now to sort it out. I can see the logic in playing Pethick in midfield even if I don't agree with it. I can imagine the conversation he had with Bokker before the Posh game when it became clear that Reham was going back to Fulham. Something like ("We've been losing recently so we need a defensive midfielder to shore up the back line. Who have we got?" - to which Booker would reply "Rodger and Oatway - both injured. That just leaves Peth who can play in midfield if needed")

Hopefully he'll see the error of his ways and either find another formation or sign a defensive midfielder!
