Very nice, not as many pubs as you would imagined and the Mrs will hate the stench of the on-board toilets on your boat!???

Up here on the left.
It's best to go as a crowd as once you've all had ten minutes steering the boat it all gets a bit tedious. The countryside is dreary and flat so there is not much to see from the boat. Great Yarmouth is about the only place of size on the broads and even that is a bit tired. In my opinion it's cheaper to take a week in Spain.

A bit nippy may/oct times and busy during school holidays one week is enough to explore the whole broads, great holiday:thumbsup:

Going at easter with a group of 8, loads of fun.

Nice and easy, not hectic, just a good relaxing time.
Funny enough i was just last night coping the video to DVD that we did the last time we went 23 years ago, and on tape it remembers it as a really fully holiday, but we were kids then.

Only go for a wee in the heads on the boat, for number 2's use pubs/cafes etc.

If you get down Yarmouth way, beware of the tides ... especially when tying up the boat for any length of time. That's a tip ... in both senses of the word.

Ahhhhh, good ol' 'Great' Yarmouth. If Norfolk needed an enema (which it probably does): Gt. Yarmouth is where they'd stick the pipe in.

Thanks y'all.

Can you go Northern to Southern ? Or is it all available ? (I had assumed it was all one bit of water).

Northern side is prettier. Breydon water takes you over to the southern broads toward Norwich which is worth a visit if you have not been before Breydon can be tricky if the weather /tides are against you Time it right and you will be fine
Take your time dont rush relax and enjoy

When I went on a school trip about 26 years ago, we got our boats from Brundall which is a short way outside Norwich. This seemed to be a good location and most places seemed relatively accessible from there.

Wroxham, Horning and Beccles were all nice places from what I remember.

All I know is its a God awful small affair from Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads.

Life On Mars

It's a god-awful small affair
To the girl with the mousy hair
But her mummy is yelling "No"
And her daddy has told her to go
But her friend is nowhere to be seen
Now she walks
through her sunken dream
To the seat with the clearest view
And she's hooked to the silver screen
But the film is a saddening bore
For she's lived it
ten times or more
She could spit in the eyes of fools
As they ask her to focus on

[CHORUS]
Sailors fighting in the dance hall
Oh man!
Look at those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the Lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars?

It's on Amerika's tortured brow
That Mickey Mouse
has grown up a cow
Now the workers
have struck for fame
'Cause Lennon's on sale again
See the mice in their million hordes
From Ibeza to the Norfolk Broads
Rule Britannia is out of bounds
To my mother, my dog, and clowns
But the film is a saddening bore
'Cause I wrote it
ten times or more
It's about to be writ again
As I ask you to focus on

[CHORUS]
Dring-dring-dring......
[Mind the phone]

No not Delia.

Does anyone have tips or advice for the Broads ?

Ta in advance Peeps.

Yes, don't bother. Flat and boring.

If you want a waterways holiday, hire a narrowboat and cruise the UK's canal system. Much more varied and a damn sight more to see/do along the way.

If you MUST go to Norfolk, make sure you visit The Locks public house between Beccles and Bungay. It's like no other pub on this planet!!!
