For fear of booing by Fans.

What a complete joke, for one in my opinion the welsh anthem should not be played anyway, it is an english league, english cup competition..........just so happens they are from wales.

The national anthem is a tradition that goes back years and a major part of the experaince for thousands of fans.

Would not happen anyehere else in the world...well maybe N & S Korea.

Sorry if fixtures, not seen it on the site. (but did only look on 1st page)

Just to create a couple of points.

It isn't an English League, there isn't one. It's The League - and for that we should be very proud.

England hasn't got a national anthem, but my view, ignore what happened last time and do it anyway. Booing "national anthems" is as traditional as singing them.

I'm a bit confused about the North and South Korea bit. Are they in the habit of banning national anthems internally or would you do so if they drew each other in the Carling Cup as a precautionary measure ?

Joking aside, are they kept apart in draws for say the Asia Cup or whatever it is called and world cup draws due to the tensions between the 2 countries?

Yes it does- Land of Hope and Glory

It's always struck me as rather odd that national anthems are even considered for club games. The clubs do not represent a nation and the playing of a national anthem makes no contribution towards firing up team spirit in a squad where there are players from a variety of countries.

What's the point?

Football players now a days are a complete disgrace when 'trying' to sing the national anthem! They do not seem to know any of the words and do not sing with any passion at all! although i agree they should be played..i think the players need to learn it first to make it worth while.
