Thought Dixon and Murray were playing too far from one another, which didn't help. But only the second time two relatively inexperienced players have played together so surely the jury's out.

The team is playing in the style of its manager, inevitable really. Deano was never one to throw himself into every tackle and chase every ball down (unless I just happened to miss the games in which he did just that). More of a languid style with the emphasis on execution when it matters. Probably need a higher skill level than we currently have to get away with that over the course of the season if we are to make play-offs in 08-09 (or even more ambitiously automatic).

The only one I want to see the back of without waiting for a replacement is Gatting. McPhee without the skill and Ramsay without the effort. What use is he apart from keeping a goalkeeper off the bench!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree 100% with that. I think Gatting has been given his chance and found to be sorely lacking - scored bundles in the youth team but can't do it at a higher level.
I think we've improved as a team since January - Murray is a decent player who scores goals - yes he misses more than he gets but Zamora did that too. Thomson is immense and should be captain next year. I have only seen McFaul in the reserves where he looked OK - if we can't go up on the last weekend I expect Deano to put him in. Dixon is young, inexperienced and making a huge step up. Give him a pre season and see what he's like next year.

Why IS that do you suppose? Nothing wrong with the boy's goal scoring rate. But Zamora never got that kind of grief on the pitch. Neither did Knight. Neither does Forster. Same goes for the also-rans like Revell and Bas Savage. Sorry, but there's something about Murray's playing style that rubs Albion fans up the wrong way. Maybe cos he doesn't appear to be either a grafter or an entertainer. Not sure what can be done about it, or whether anything should. Probably just a body language thing

If he had cost £50k people would be purring about him, but because he is our 'most expensive signing for 25 years' ((c) The Anus )a significant minority of fans are expecting a combination of Henry, Pele and Ronaldo, ignoring the fact that £300k gets you f*** all these days.

We have been fortunate in recent times with BZ and Knight, who were 20+ goalscorers in this division (but not in a higher division), who ran considerably less than Murray, BUT were in sides that were promoted, and that tends to give people rose tinted glasses.

I don't know how or why anyone can question about Murray, I really don't.

He's been scoring, and quite a few goals for us, so that speaks for itself in my view.

Only one player REALLY lived up to the rose-tinteds of hindsight, and he was on the Withdean pitch a couple of weeks back waving to everyone.

Some of the younger fans on here shoulda seen Fred Binney
He was so out of shape, you'd never credit he was even a football player - and he turned as quick as an oil tanker. He used to score loads!

What worried me about Dixon, was that, he started the move for the 1st goal but then stood still in the centre circle watching, instead of pushing up in support of Murray.
