I don't think that many who actually voted Brexit will ever admit, either publicy or to themselves, that it was a terrible idea and that they were duped. The main reason opinion polls now show the UK as pro-EU is because of the demographics of Brexit voters. Far more of them will have died since 2016 than remain voters, and the 5-6m people that have come of age in the same time will be overwhelmingly pro-EU.

The independent did a study on this about 7 years ago, in which it was estimated that the pro-Brexit majority was decreasing by 1350 per day based on demographics alone. This would've meant that the UK became pro-remain in Jan 2019, so by now the majority would be over 3m - about 10%.

That 1350 a day is comforting to know especially when I am in that age bracket.

But even after all that, we got Brexit defined and implemented by the very people who ran the Leave campaign. You got the exact Brexit you voted for

I'll bite. Some leavers believed we could stay in the Single Market, some believed that we could have a Norway deal. There should have been a choice of leaving put to the country instead of rushing in to get out as soon as possible, and making a real pigs ear of it, which is still being sorted out now (see Gibraltar). The Tories lost four leaders to Brexit. Sunak finally sorted out NI, and was still voted out.

What Bercow did, as Speaker of the House, he had every right to conduct the House of Commons business, was to maintain a balance. He didn't reveal his preference until after he stepped down. What he did do, was to refute allegations about his wife, saying, quite rightly, she could make her own choices.

Picking on Corbyn is a strange one, because once the referendum went through, and somebody asked him, on tv, about opposing the result, said 'that ship has sailed' As leader of the Opposition, he followed the Labour Party vote to question motives in Parliament.

I guess that eventually people will be prepared to say it was madness.

That said, we still allow Farage off the hook all the time and allow him to make claims willy nilly with no accountability.

Thing is we can either make lemonade that tastes bitter or something a little sweeter.

The second option doesn't require opening up the history books, just looking ahead and deciding how we best get something nice to drink.

Exactly. It's councillors that they will be getting elected today. You know, the ones who openly back Saville, Britain first, make racist, homophobic, islamaphobic, and misogynist posts across their social media, send unsolicited pictures of their private parts, resign en masse etc, etc, etc. They make NSC's prospective councillors look classy

The 5 MPs are their Crème de la crème, Lee Anderson, Richard Tice, Nigel Farage, Rupert Lowe and James Murdock, the jailed girlfriend beater. Who are all now fighting like rats in a sack over what Reform should 'do', and who should be in charge, with one resigned already

The promises during the leave campaign that we’d be better off economically, that money would be diverted to the NHS and so on were all bare-faced lies.

That was obvious to some of us even before the vote. So were the major challenges inherent with leaving, not least the Irish border conundrum. But then, unlike some of our politicians at the time, I did read the Good Friday Agreement, so maybe that helped a bit.

So, yes, we do know. And thanks for proving my point for me, it’s much appreciated.
