It does seem a bit suspect that earlier in the season he was winning plaudits left, right and centre for his performances week in week out. And now he's apparantly shit because Yorkie said so. Did he just get bollocks overnight?

There's something not right about this one, the guy's not even getting on the bench when the players that start clearly aren't doing the job (or at least they weren't until recently)

I thought he did really well last season but did seem to be left out towards the end.

Shame as I think he is a great player but I am not the manager so there you go.

How strange.
There was me thinking that Nsc was a forum for fans to discuss opinions.

Last time I saw Nicolas was in a fish and chip shop in Barnet.

There's a signed photo of him (in his Albion strip) on the wall.

There's a guy works in our fish shop swears he's Alexis???!

Family friend I think.

I been in there a few times, first time I got in a conversation with the owner I was "upgraded" from small cod to large.

I have watched Nicolas in the reserves and don't think he is any better than Hammond imo.

Totally different types of players; they should be playing alongside, not instead of, each other.

Yeah does my head in to be honest. He played Nicolas regularly whilst he was trying to get him to sign a permanent deal. Then, as soon as he did - dropped, and has hardly played since. It must be a lonely place Planet McGhee.

I think his contract expires at the end of the season. I can see him going to Coventry or Wolves and doing well.

Just seen the interview with Reid on Seagulls World and he says he likes playing with Nicolas in the reserves because it gives him the chance to get forward as Nicolas sits back. Come on MM, the man deserves a chance.

I suppose we are quite well stocked in the midfield department, although Charlie is out and Chippy hasn't been at his best of late (although he was supposed to have been good against Millwall).

I like Nicholas, I think he should be given a chance in the middle of our midfield instead of chippy. Always give 110%, always looking for the simple ball. Never holding on to the ball for to long, loves to get stuck in.

I wonder why MM doesn't pick him?

Could it be something to do with the fact that the Sunday Times report of the Brighton-Millwall game made Richard Carpenter their man of the match yesterday? An example of someone looking at the game neutrally and not with axes to grind, eh, Kev?

or maybe its an example of a player having a good game? I havent read one person on here saying chippy had a bad game yesterday and fair play to him for getting MOM I thought it was his best performance of the season.

To be fair Chippy has been off the boil in the last couple of months, imho.

Surely Nicolas deserved to be on the bench more this season at least?

No he wasn't. What games are you talking about?

He had a decent run in the team last season and won praise then, that's true enough.

But he has since been overtaken by Hammond, and I think deservedly so. Nicholas is a decent defensive midfielder but not the strongest physical presence in the centre of the park. He is a sharp and accurate passer, but there are question marks over whether they really get the team going forward or not.

It's a shame he's got few opportunities to show if he's made progress this season from last. But from what I've seen in the games he has had this season, he hasn't really made a big case for being picked regularly.

That said, his attitiude is first class.

As Alexis said himself in the programme just last week: "The manager can only pick 11 players and he's the boss - what he says goes and I respect that."
