premiership defender signing early this week so it could be a story if it turns out to be Shorey.......

Is that definite? Do you have any idea who it is?

Shorey would be a good signing, in my opinion. He was a regular in the Premier League for West Brom the season before last so I would think he'd be a decent option for us. In the short term, probably a better option than Mattock (although Mattock is obviously still young so will improve).
