The latest in the on off saga ................it's off!

http://www.birminghammail.net/news/top-stories/2012/05/22/exclusive-ole-gunnar-solskjaer-

Gus still in the running? Genuinely don't think so but, as the great man says "is fuball" and you never know...............................

2 conflicting articles came out at the same time....

Solskjaer says he will announce his next move soon, Aston Villa job looking likely - Sport Witness

Both are not really reliable sources so no one really knows what the hell is going on. Some Norway based Villans said Ole made no comments after his meetings today so not sure what these articles are based on

Think I prefer your article

My son is a Villain born and bred and is desperate to get OGS - his comments on Lambert as an alternative were unprintable and I'm not going to say what his comments are on getting Gus instead but suffice to say we have a healthy rivalry

Smart lad he is  Its funny at first most wanted Lambert and were not keen on OGS....but as time has gone on and more info comes out and we think more.....although he is a bit of a gamble he seems to be just what Villa need. Alot of people are hoping he does infact get the job

Been confirmed that OGS won't be taking the job. So, big question is, who does Lerner turn to next??

Lambert favourite. Gus 4th in the betting at 10/1.

Not sure the odds mean much in this case as OGS was massively odds-on favourite for the job, so it suggests the bookies don't really have much of a clue here. Pull a name out of the hat time I reckon, could be anyone.

always been convinced that if Gus is offered it, he'll take it, but looked like he wasn't going to be offered it.

maybe reading between the lines i am adding 2+2 and equaling 5, but thought it was weird that Gus said, transfer activity would not start for 2 weeks...... why?, why not start straight away if players are available?

which made me think, that Gus is awaiting on the outcome of Villa job first and TB also is waiting to see who the manager will be before handing them the transfer funds???

Did he say that? I thought it was more that they were working on things but not close to concluding.

Possibly. Not sure anyone knows how Gus' mind works. On the one hand he bangs on and on to all and sundry about managing in the Premier League, but on the other, if he's been given a fantastic budget for next year, then he's going to have an amazing opportunity to improve his CV within a season... To be honest, if that's the case, he'd be a fool to leave.

Hard to know really as it seems Lambert and OGS were the favs.....and it seems both wont be coming to VIlla.

Bookies have not got a clue....they had Ancelotti as the odds on fav for almost all of last summer and look who we ended up with

Interesting how times have changed.

Current Managers and ex players far more wealthy than previous generations.

They seem far more critical of any job offers and the clubs really need to work hard to recruit those that they want.

I think Gus said "in the next fortnight" so worry not

My concern is that if Lambert goes to Villa, then Gus will be offered Norwich. I have no doubt he will talk to them so we are in for an uncomfortable time, Will he take it if offered? Who knows  Personally I am hoping di Matteo becomes available to confuse Villa and Norwich into missing out on our man
