Can I still call Murray a mardy-arsed northern Judas.

Until he comes back and plays for us, obviously.

Absolutely, this is football fandom, and football hatred. We put on our blue and white striped glasses and view the world through them, otherwise we would not still be going. Let's face it, most of the time the football has been poor, but we live for the occasional diamonds in the cesspit of what the Albion has put us through for the last few years, and I for one would have it no other way.

Agree completely and it's fun to have these pantomime figures of hate. I'm sure Murray is a lovely person in real life and a mutual friend who does know him quite well says he has good taste in music also so he can't all be bad.

This is always quoted as some indication of a noble act by Murray.

To me it was naked self-interest. He still lives in town. His partner and her kids live in town.

Had he gone back up north and scored at the Amex I am not sure his reaction would have been the same.

Thats your right to think that but isnt it an assumption... is there any evidence to back that up.... isnt there just as much evidence to suggest it was out of respect?

First thing I thought about Noone going, is that he will compete against some of our rivals too, & then that might vicariously help us rise above.
If Cardiff pip us to a promotion then that's the way it goes and will need to get better at this level.
Good luck to him though

i have a problem with murray going to palace, but at the same time had a lot of respect when he refused to celebrate after scoring against us, but with hammond his behaviour was disgusting when he played against us, total lack of respect.
Not too sure about that....Albion fans were giving Hammond a lot of stick before he scored...........some fans think it's alright to abuse a player but when he retaliates they scream blue murder. Had Murray gone to any other club people would'nt have worried but to go to your bitterest rivals on free.....that takes a lot of forgiving....so does Harding, said he would sign new contract...goes on holiday and the very next day signs for Leeds...had he been honest and said Ihave been offered a better contract at Leeds so no thank you for the contract you offered things would've been different.

I think the idea of football loyalty is (perhaps unfortunately) old fashioned. It's the romantic idea of being with a club for life that just isn't what modern day football is. Clubs want to progress and be the best they can, even if that means buying quality, and releasing players that came up through your youth system. As long as that is what football is, players will come and go to wherever they want to work (whether that be for money, prestige, friendship, or other reason).

Mainly for that reason, I don't really get attached to players, so don't get too disappointed when they leave. That may change in the future if we lose a quality player and don't bring in a decent replacement, but generally if a player goes, he goes. That's just football. Getting worked up or hating people for it just seems a waste of energy to me.

RESPECT!??
Do you think he coulda thought of that when he played for BHA?
I struggle to think of any mark of loyalty, unity or regard for the fans.
Going to join palace was a bit of a sign!

You murray apologists take the friggin biscuit.

Not got a problem with Noone. He played his heart out and by all accounts world hard in training. He was offered more money at a potentially better equipped club. And we got an offer matching our valuation . How can anyone be calling him Judas ?

At the end of the day Palace are just another football club and maybe the only one that had offered Murray a job

Out of interest, why should he respect you?

When you have made career decisions, how much do the feelings and sensitivities of your former employer's customers come into it?

Not sure you understood my point at all..... I was asking for evidence either way... you didnt give any so perhaps we should give him the benefit of the doubt... or we can exhibit the same petulance that we have accused Hammond of.

You HAVE to be 'shitting me! Wtf??
He strung us out when he'd won his contract he wanted, using our worst rivals to cuckold Brighton!
Seeing as you are SO understanding, can I take over your bird? I'll respectfully not celebrate in front of you, and if she's not working out you can have her back to love and cover with adoration.

Football fandom is different though. It's nothing to do with evidence. In no other profession would grown men display such emotional vulnerability.

I have been lecturing for 25 years, never felt the need to clap my students at the end of a lecture, have gone from one institution to another without being the least bit concerned about the feelings of the ones I left behind, does that make me disrespectful, or indeed a Northern Judas?

Hahahaha... love the irony..... however the story about Murray is NOT the whole story is it. How many offers did he have.... yes he f***ed up but didnt he want to sign when he realised his mistake and Gus had taken the offer away. He is a professional player after all trying to get the best for himself in his career. Not sure having girlfriends count as careers...

Ask any of the gazillions that have signed for QPR over the past 12 months. Most of them would have never heard of the place and certainly turning up at that pig sty wouldn't have been the deciding factor, nor any suggestion that they were building a team to challenge for anything other than survival.

It's the way it is, blue and white spec's are fine. Rose tinted? Nah!

I don't recall Bobby Z getting loads of stick when he left us, we all recognised that he was destined for better things, and whilst we may have been disappointed we could accept that.

Players come, players go its all part of football, and all we can do is thank them for the time they spent with us, especially if they made a difference.

Hammond did however disappoint when he did what he did at the Withdean against his home town club, and he will need to get a lot of fans back on side. That said, he is/was a quality player and if he gives it his all whilst in blue and white we can ask no more. I'm sure he will do just that and we will all be singing his praises when he knocks that first goal in.

Whatever I think, I would never stoop to booing a player who wears our colours, its just not on, and I hope he gets a reasonable reception from the fans. Those that do plan to boo him, shame on you!

Stop and think. As we were signing quality player after quality player were you thinking "no Gus. I don't want Bruno, Lopez, Bridge, Dobbie because we should show some loyalty to the players that got us out of League One"?

I doubt it. So it cuts both ways. If a player leaves for more money or because he thinks he'll play more or for whatever reason, it does not make him a Judas. In the same way that you are not a "Judas" for instantly forgetting last years favourites when a new and better one comes along.

Do you know the story of Judas Iscariot?

He was a high profile member of team Jesus. Loved by the disciples.

Then the boys head was turned. He decided he would turn traitor on his team and took 30 pieces of silver from the men who hated Jesus and signed for them.

No similarities there then.

At least the original judas had the decency to realise the error of his ways and hang himself.
