If we can get hold of a couple of newbies and Goodwin stays (fingers crossed)

Montgomerie
Ward
Goodwin
Adams
Ambrose
Prior
Martin Jenkins
Mushy
Lewry
Kirtley
Taylor

Lovely strong batting line up with Ward in there i reckon, i think Cottey will be no more than a part timer if Ward does come down.

Over to you....

and surprisingly, based on this seasons performances, it's Monty who is the weakest link.

Looks pretty sound to me :)

Yes.

Do you need stats etc to prove it?

mmm... I guess it's how you measure 'BIG' ?

The stats I like the look of this season include...

Kent only 4th in the County Championship, compared to Sussex who were runaway CHAMPIONS!

Only six wins out of 16, compared to Sussex who managed a magnificent 10!

Frizzell County Championship Division One, 2003
Kent v Sussex
Nevill Ground, Tunbridge Wells
4,5,6,7 June 2003 (4-day match)

Result: Sussex won by 191 runs
Points: Sussex 20, Kent 5

Twenty20 Cup, 2003, South Division
Sussex v Kent
County Ground, Hove (day/night)
24 June 2003 (20-over match)

Result: Sussex won by 5 wickets
Points: Sussex 2, Kent 0

:)

Frizzell County Championship Division One, 2003
Sussex v Kent
County Ground, Hove
30 April, 1,2 May 2003 (4-day match)

Result: Sussex won by 133 runs
Points: Sussex 19, Kent 3

:) :lolol:

I'll come up with some.

I wasn't talking about this season when Sussex did very well thanks to Kent.
(ie handing the fvcking championship to you on a plate)

Form though is temporary, class is permanent.

As it's 25 years since Kent managed to scrape a win in the County Championship, I guess the 'class' you are talking about isn't particularly high.

I think we'd like to get Pieterson, but there are lots of counties after him. Can't see us coming to us, we haven't got the financial clout of Lancashire or Surrey.

There's talk of us signing an Aussie with a Hungarian passport, although that could just be a wild rumour. It's the sort of signing they'd go for though, Ambrose was an unknown quantity when we snapped him up.

Players with EU Passports are going to be all the rage next season, i hope we don't start with all that though, i like to see homegrown players making good, not cheap foreign imports.

I think Lewry would be be picked above Taylor.

We also need a back-up seamer for when Kirtley's playing for England and Lewry's injured.

It's interesting that there were only two Sussex-born players in the squad last year.

In 1981, the last time we came close, there were only two Sussex-born players as well.

Moral is: if you want to do well in the championship, find your players from somewhere else.

Who are they then?

Prior, Kirtley, Lewry, Tucker and Taylor are all home grown.

I suppose they might not have been born down here, but it doesn't exactly mean they are imports!!
