around the same kind of area- upper mid table/pushing for play offs.........mcdons and peterborough will probably be up there, leicester will have money to burn, a few decent teams will be staying down

it'll be tough thats for sure

think it will be harder than this year - decent teams coming up and down, plus this season three separate teams having points deductions

I doubt if we will get promoted next season, as said before, there are Leicester and Scuny that should finish above us, and the 3 playoff teams who dont go up should be there or there abouts. Id be happy to go into the final 3 games still with a shout at the playoffs!

If we can keep the same defence as we finished with (ie keep Richards) we have a front line that should get us 15-20 goals each so throw in a midfielder or two to go with Cox and Thomson can see us being high up maybe even pushing top 2

Come August, will be backing Forster - each way - for top scorer in the division at around 10/1. Same goes for Murray if he's still here.

Really can't see us getting anywhere near the play-offs without some kind of joined-up midfield. The whole lot, apart from Westlake, who we probably can't aford IMHO, need replacing (Getting in Whitaker from Port Vale would be smart) Oh, and wingers to supply the balls to the strikers from the, uh, wings. And genuine competition for FDM.

On the whole I'd agree with whoever it was up top who said we over-achieved this season. But then again we ARE same old brighton, taking the piss

Another top ten finish, good progress in preperation for our move to Falmer.

With decent investment in new players - including Richards, Westlake and possibly Bowditch - I could see us sneaking in on that sixth place.

Without investment, I'd be happy with a top 10 finish. Momentum's the key thing when it comes to Falmer - I'd live with slow progress in League 1 culminating in promotion for the first season at Falmer. Our best chance of really building support for decent crowds, I'd say.

I think this thread should of been just before the season starts then we would know the quality of the squad after the clearout and summer signings!

Championes. If I can't be optimistic about next season after the end of a season that way exceeded my expectations then I should give up following football. I think we are only about three or four players short of a squad that can challenge in this division. With Falmer on the horizon and the improvement in the quality of players brought in this season and bolstered in the close season by more, things will be looking great at the start of next season imo.

I'll have 8 months of next season to be negative if things don't happen so I'll start out expecting great things.

should be in top 10 if we learn the lessons of this season. A bit of luck and a following wind and we could be close to the play-offs.

one safe prediction is that more teams will be deducted points for insolvency - hope one of them isn't us but with not even a whisper of investors you never know.......................

Top two??? Extremely wishful thinking with teams like Leicester coming down. All we can do is our best (cliche, but true) throughout the season and hopefully make it into the play-offs.

When Forest came down they were expected as a "big club" to head back up straight away but history has proved its not the case, same goes for the championship this season with outsider "smaller" teams (and I dont mean that as disrespectful to Stoke, Hull and Bristol City, its how the media would see them) either in the Premiership next season or a good shout off it.

The only things that seems to be set in stone about the whole league is either Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal or maybe Liverpool will win the premiership. Every other team in the league could be promoted or relegated.

As for us, unless funds are spent that are not there for spending (but who knows how much the new sponsors will pay remembering they will be first sponsors at Falmer it could be higher than Skint paid) I see periods in play off places but a tailing off like this season again to 7th or 8th

I think this season will be the highest we finish for another five years at least. Financial chickens will come home to roost in 08/09, we cannot sustain losses of £3m a year.

I completely agree with your point, I feel that anybody (especially in this leaue) can beat anybody. However I do feel that we really need to get rid of a lot of players and strengthen the squad with more rounded players in order to compete properly. (Perhaps that's how I should of worded it in my earlier point)
