So is NYE one of the best nights of the year with celebrating and partying to be done or one of the biggest over commercialised rip offs going, when every tom dick and harry cram the pubs so full you can bearly get to the bar?

Normally shithouse. Every year I say I am not going to bother but I always find myself going out. Going to Stick it on at the King N Queen this year though so that should be crackin :)

I don't usually go out, but do do something - thus getting round the problem of every pub/bar everywhere being rammed and charging silly prices. My group of friends from uni are having a party at one of our number's houses tomorrow, nothing too outrageous or expensive but it will be lots of fun.

Load of shite. Haven't been out the last 3 years and haven't missed it.

If you really want to go out there's usually good things on NYD without all the big night charlies and pissed up twats

I've only ventured out once on NYE since the dispointment that was the millenium. May risk it tommorrow night however it will only be the local as they have a decent looking band on.

I loved it when i was in my teens and even twenties but the pubs closed at 12:30 back then. so by the time you had said all your Happy new years it was, time gentlemen please, a real anti climax.
Now, it's shit. and i will boycot it as usual.

always overhyped, always get hammered. Xmas Eve is the big one, always has been always will be, NYE is just another excuse to get mullered and pull fat chicks!

It's not something I've ever really got excited about - higher prices, having to stay in the same pub all night, possible bad weather and nearly everyone goes home around 1am. Massive anti-climax.

I've never much enjoyed it. People seem aggravated after about a week with not much to do. Christmas eve has everyone relishing the end of work just a few hours earlier, but new year's eve has a build-up of boredom and claustrophobia to burst in one foul night.
My memories of it are of being really rather uncomfortable in largely unfeeling crowds, or of being out of my mind for various reasons and both muddying my reputation and trousers. I can't be young forever though. This year, some pondering, a little glass of whisky and a dvd or two.

Its over-rated, but a good excuse for another night out.
Luckily not going out into town, as then it really is a rip-off, but got a house party to go to which is all good. No entrance fee, cheap drinks. Sorted.

Find it all a bit boring now, I'd rather stay in & watch Jools Holland & be fresh for saturday.
